is it even comparable to any of the mtns in CO or UT? just wondering if it's worth heading to the midwest for a boarding trip someday.

Well I've never been to co or ut so I couldn't tell you. Granite is probly the best place in the midwest if you want to ride park. I've been to alot of other parks in the midwest and the majority of them look like Hellen Keller built them. The rails and boxes are usually shit and the lips are a solid chunk of ice. Granite is actually kept up and they have so many nice rails and boxes. The lips are super nice on most days and they jumps are pretty good. They have mostly 25 to 40 foot jumps. There is usually a decent amount of good riders. At other hills, there may be one or two, but the rest just shit in the park and don't even do anything. Granite is also pretty nice just for cruising. They have lots of random tree jibs that are fun to hit and some wooded trails. They have like 70 some runs i guess and like 700 foot vertical which is like the biggest in the midwest. If I were you, I would check it out if your going to the midwest. There are some other hills that are pretty decent but you kinda have to look around for them.

its impossible to compare a state in the rocky mountains to a midwestern state when it comes to snowboarding and skiing. It just plain impossible. but i guess if u ever had to move to the midwest now you know where to go check out

Yeah I know. They were constantly cutting in front of me before I would hit a rail and then they would just go off the lips. They should keep the parks better mantained because there were some HUGE ruts and the lips sucked. |

parks are super rutted at Granite last night..and the speeds are slow but otherwise they have a great set up so far this year. I would wait to go till later in the year for it to really be worth it if your not from the area

The park was in good shape after 4 inches of snow on the 31st. There was nothing real big, but it was fun for me being fairly new to the park. Most of the mountain was open on the 1st.

I was at Crystal Mountain on their demo day this year, basically I had to sign this piece of paper and then I was able to go to any company there. They would set you up with the board you wanted to try and they said try to bring it back after about an hour in case anyone else wanted to ride the board. It was a lot of fun and I got to try a couple of new boards.

Granite is well worth the extra drive time. It's way bigger than either Cascade or Devil's Head; more vertical, longer runs, and easily one of the best parks in the area (if they've got it all up).We were up there for a few days in mid-January this year & the coverage wasn't good enough to have all the features set-up yet (or really get into any trees) but it was still a damn good time. Plus, even when it's busy there's enough room to spread out and not be right on top of people (my biggest problem with Cascade in particular).

haha, that jump line has roughly 10 jibs up now that are all fun as heck, and the jumps are way better, the main park is amazing this year, so many fun features. PM me about when you will be there and such

Saturday nights you can ski/snowboard for $17. We stayed at the Motel 6 in Rothschild for $60 (2 Adults 2 Queen Beds) |
