Slopestyle is probably my favorite thing to watch behind pipe so this is great.

I'm glad, but I don't see the point. We get the X-Games about 3 weeks before the Olympics. It's going to be 90% of the same runs.  Same deal as the pipe. Honestly, who didn't expect Shaun White to win? We saw his run just a couple of weeks before? IMO it takes some of the fun out of it.
Bring it hard or don't bring it at all.

slopestyle is so much better than pipe in my opinion. this is good news. i agree with the opinion about the x games but it's the same thing with pipe-we see the same runs over and over again from each rider.

this is pretty awesome! Slopestyle has always been my favorite to watch. I have no complaints about seeing Xgames and Olympics weeks from each other, I mean I have to wait 4 years for it, so why would I complain. Its going to be interesting to see how many riders from the last Xgames will actually make it to 2014 Olympics. All my favorite slopestyle riders are foreigners, guess this will be one of the few times I will not root for USA.
Its not fun unless its sketchy

Personally I'm excited, but I'm also curious who's going to be in it since it's so far from now.

Sweet. I hope they don't eventually award skiers slopestyle in the olympics. Skiers botch slopestyle with rollerblade style spinning. So sketchy.
Will Shaun White pick up slopestyle again for the olys?

I agree with barnyard, the more snow events, the better!  I switched cable providers and no longer get Fuel TV (dammit) so I welcome any opportunity to see snowboarding on TV.

Too late:
"On Monday, the International Olympic Committee's Executive Board approved the addition of Ski and Snowboard Slopestyle to the Winter Olympics roster of events, effective in 2014. The decision was announced via press conference from the IOC's meeting in Durban, South Africa."

Im stoked! Although like Ty said, the x-games being 3 weeks before, may be similar, but the Olympics bring an unreal vibe of patriotism that can't be recreated.

That's awesome. It's about time. There are so many riders from so many different countries that kill it in slopestyle so it will be interesting to see who takes it. I'll be rooting for Torstein no matter who he rides for, as long as he makes it in, which I'm sure he will. Now the whole focus won't be on Shaun White and the halfpipe.

That's great news.  I was always confused as to why they chose to bring in pipe without slopestyle.  I have always enjoyed watching slopestyle more.

This made me realize how many foreign riders I like and will cheer for regardless of what I'm supposed to do. That said McMorris will be a force to be reckoned with as well as the Helgasons.

Really good news.  I like to watch some of the Pipe competitions but it gets a little old afterawhile.  Slopestyle on the other hand has so many variables.  Great addition to the Olympics.

Count me as also enjoying Slopestyle more, just more to it, and obviously if you have a pipe competition there's no reason for not having Slopestyle too.

This should be an amazing year for the Olympics.  Slopestyle is going to win alot of people over.  As if I cannot wait for the Olympics, this gives me more reason to be excited.  Thanks for sharing.

Great, it's nice to add a little variety to the usual pipe hijinks.
