Does anyone here ride with a sports camera? if so, what type of camera do you use? how do you mount it and what do you usually do with your footage? thanks.

honestly for almost any sport all i have ever seen was GoPros everyone pretty much uses them for there size and quality. there also super versatile i seen them mounted in more ways than i can remember. some were bought some were home made. the home made ones being some if the coolest. and when it comes to quality for the size and price i dont think u can get much better

I like the contour.  I use it in a helmet mount.  The picture quality got better with the new firmware updates.  Plus I like the GPS options.

ive heard great things about the go pro but i have a kodak playsport and i love it. its very durable and waterproof too. i use a delkin suction cup mount to attatch it to my board. and since its waterproof i put it on my wakeboard too and it didnt fall off. i put it on my longboard too. you can pretty much stick it on anything. it also takes great still pics. its also just like $110. i love it

haha, not as bad tho as some people who bring back threads from 2009 and such.  Just to put my input into this, I use a gopro hero and I have used someones sony handycam (not sure which model) and both work great.  The film quality is unbelievable.  It won't be like those 1mil+ dollar heli cams, but it still has exceptional quality.  The gopros also can be used for anything, from skating, bmx, snowboarding, and a lot more.  The gopro may be difficult to use when filming someone else if it's off the helmet, because there is no screen on it; however, it shouldn't cause any problems as long as you can aim it properly.  The gopro also comes with a waterproof case that covers the cam, so no water gets in.  Just make sure no dust or other specs are on the white rubber strip around the seal of the case so that the seal stays shut when you close the case.

I saw a vid of a dude skiing Alpine recently.  Had a video camera facing front and one facing back.  Very neat.  So go buy 2 or turn it around for the second run.

I personally when planing to make a video, use my digital photocamera and ride with it in my hand. Some of my friends have cameras like gopro or contour, and they use mounts available with their cameras...

Regarding footage - we usually create diff vids and share with friends via youtube)

I go with a go pro and mount it on my helmet. When I have a good amount of footage I make an iMovie out of it.

Steep and Cheap had the Contour ContourHD 1080p Vid Cam for $129.99 last night, great deal.  My buddy uses this cam for snowboarding and mountain biking and swear by it.  The video quality is good, the size and shape of the cam is less obnoxious than a GoPro but the main complaint is the sound (although how many people really want to hear the sounds of the activity in the video?  Most will add some music to the video and mute the audio taken with the cam.).

yeah but it goes for almost 300$ considering its pretty much limits you to where you can bring your "camera" lwouldn't pick that over a gopro or contour anyday
