Looking for a new car and am considering different luxury sedans.

Any recommendations?  I've been looking at the 5 Series BMW's, the Audi A6 and A7, and some others.

The new A7s look like shit, total rip off a Mercedes CLS, except it looks awful.
Audis have great interiors though.

Either get a BMW 535i or a Benz E class.
I'm a huge BMW fanboy, but the new body style of the E class just looks so shtooking good. However, Mercedes is stupid and don't offer a true transmission in their cars, so if you actually want to drive the car, get the Bimmer.
If you're just cruising around, get the Mercedes and ball out.

Save your money and get a 1 yr old certified pre-owned BMW.  You'll get the full maintenance pkg and about 90K in warranty too.

BMWs tend to be expensive to upkeep even though they're pretty solid otherwise. I've got a Lexus ES that I love and my parents got one shortly after I did.

F BWM's nice cars but to much busy up keep work on them. i would say audi A6 or A7 for sure better pick. Benz makes a decent car though im not to familiar with there models. though in my opinion i wouldnt waste my money on there i would step down a notch to VW.

Most of my friends have an Audi A3 because it's pretty neat for snowboarding.
If you want something special take a look at that stuff here:
http://www.alpina-automobiles.com/

I think the gas is pretty cheap in USA and nobody cares about the environment but on the other hand nobody can really use the big engines because you have speed limitations...that means ALPINA would be a waste.

Therefore I would recommend a Mercedes. Especially regarding the upkeep-costs and the value-loss. But I would neither take the CLS or E class (coupé...not the limousine, they look stupid) The CL-class coupé is quite the nicest one.
I am driving a C-class and it's spacy enough but not really useful in Winter.

What about the new Hyundai Equus?  I heard it packs a lot of things standard and comes in about 10k cheaper than the competition.  The only negative I heard was a bit chinsy on the interior materials

BMW 335i is a good choice. Very solid for the price, performance and comforts.

Audi's are a great choice, not everyone loves the new body style but if you do then that's all that matters. The S4 is really nice if you're looking for something a little more sporty, if not then the A6-8 are nice depending on you price range and opinion on looks.

I like beemers.  I like Subaru's more though.  If your looking at 5 series, get a STI or a loaded legacy.

I think you should be more specific, list your price range and are you looking a luxury sedan only? Don't know why people are naming coupes or sti since they are not a luxury sedan.

The cars I've been looking at are the Audi A6, the A7, the BMW 535/550ix and the Porsche Panamera.

We already have an Infiniti FX35 for the mountains, so this is my "executive" daily driver.

What kind of price range? What's most important to you?

If I was personally in the market, I'd look long and hard at the Cadillac CTS-V.

are you an old man?  no offense but all these cars are huge boats and un-inspiring.  Especially the panorama.  If you HAVE to get a huge boat, the Audi is probably best in terms of comfort... cause you clearly don't care about performance or style.  If you did, you'd probably be looking at the M3 or maybe the Lexus ISF.  Those are "lower class" than what you are looking for though.

If I didn't have a kid (and maybe eventually two), I'd be looking at those, but since I do, they end up being too small for me.  You don't see a baby seat in the back of many M3's.  And I looked at the Cadillac CTS-V, and while the engine is amazing, the back seats are almost useless and seem to be there only for insurance purposes.  Plus, the fit and finish is disappointing with plastic almost everywhere.  I'm 37.

Dude, you're baller status.....haha
If you can afford it, I guess go for the BMW's
Don't audi have a lot of mechanical issues?
My cousin had a A4 few years back and he had to bring it into the shop pretty often.

Oh, also look into Hyundai Equos? (not sure how to spell it).
Heard that shiet got great reviews.

Panamera gets my vote out of the ones I have driven.  After you drive one you will forgive the styling.  The interior is amazing and the dynamics of the chassis are above all the others IMHO.

Mercedes has come a long way in the past few years though.  If you want a cruiser, I would definitely check them out.  Their previous generations were very un-inspiring to me.  Lots of chrome and lights everywhere, but felt like an SUV when tossed into a corner.

Audi's have the most logical interior, but every friend/client that has one seems to be in the shop a lot.  One of my old neighbors got rid of his S8 and got a BMW 750li and absolutely raves about the turbo motor and the handling though.  I have not been able to drive it yet.

Some suggestions:

BMW M5
Lexus LS 460 L AWD
Audi S6 (I don't know why it's not listed as one of the S models, but the info is still on their site...I've provided the link)
Acura RL

Good luck!

No M5's for a couple years, they are between models right now.  And I wouldn't go near the old one now that BMW isn't supporting SMG anymore.  That, and they get about 11 mpg and have a 17 gallon tank.

550i with a Dinan chip is probably just as fast, if not faster due to all the torque.  Won't handle the same, but it will still be a step up from most sedans.

From my crowd, everyone has a BMW 3 and 5 series nowadays so go for a 7 series.

I'd agree the interior of the CTS-V is going to be less spectacular than an Audi, but it's not too shabby. The back seat is going to be smaller, since it's a CTS that is in the same class as the 3-series & A4.

I think the latest gen BMWs have been pretty uninspired, and like the Audis a lot more.

Honestly, asking for car advice on the internet is kind of useless.  All you get is pointless input such as "I like car X better than car Y."  Most people have not driven the cars they suggest, so you may as well just flip through some brochures to get the same information.
Cars are very personal items and while vehicles like the Panamera might not be to everyone's taste, the fact that it made the production line says enough about what other people think about it.

My advice: go log some miles on a test drive and buy the one you like best.  Otherwise, this thread should be called "Hey everyone, I have $80k to spend and wanted you all to know that."

^ I agree, not the best place. People are just shouting out their fav cars. Since OP already has a list of cars he likes, just take them out for a test drive and read up some proper reviews, thats my best advice.

I hadn't seen the S6, but I read this on edmunds and they sounded really sour on it.

Current Audi S6

The Audi S6 is a high-performance version of the A6 sedan powered by a Lamborghini-sourced 5.2-liter V10. While slightly revised and detuned, it still produces 425 hp and 398 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic and a 40/60 rear-biased Quattro all-wheel-drive system are standard. Despite this impressive-sounding pedigree, the S6 is unfortunately disappointing. Audi claims a 0-60-mph time in the low 5-second range, though in our testing we did no better than 5.7 seconds. That's slower than the supercharged V6-powered A6 3.0T, let alone its hard-core competitors from BMW, Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz.

I have owned a 330 sedan for 3 yrs now and although I've only taken it in the ship for routine maintenance, the maintenance package has paid for everyting but tires.  I won;t own another brand as long as this CPO program is around.  Plus, my 330 gets 24 city and 33 hwy...and it goes 157 mph that I know of.

Really now, I find that hard to believe, unless they tested it going uphill so they can write about it.  Some publications have brand biases and this might be one of them.

I would get an Audi. They are somewhat less expensive then BMW's and they are still really nice. I actually almost prefer Audi's over BMW's. You should go and take both of them for a test drive and that will help tell you what brand you want to look at.
