Just did a Mock draft:
Peyton Manning
Reggie Wayne
Steve Smith (CAR)
AJ Green
Chris Johnson
Ryan Matthews
Nate Kaeding
Baltimore Def

I think I'll draft Adrian Peterson for the Running back and T. Romo for the QB, hope they'll have a strong season this year!!

While they will lean on AP to carry the team with the new QB, that will also mean opposing D's will stack the box to stop the run.  It could be a tough year for AP, I certainly wouldn't pick him #1 overall if I had the pick.

do you all wanna do 12 teams? or keep it at 10?  i'm sure you could get another 10 man league with other TruSnow members if we wanna keep ours at 10.

DCC: either one is fine...if ten, four playoff teams.  If 12, then 6 with a bye week the first week of the playoffs.

Did you do that draft with bots or something? WTF?!?! or were the dudes in the mock a buncha little kindergarteners b/c there's no way in hell you should ever... ever get a team like that.

one thing i'm a little disappointed in with this lockout, is you really haven't gotten the chance to see what people are doing, how people are feeling, how they're looking thus far to really know who really i should go after/pick. sucks.

Well, the team is very possible.
I went third overall
Peyton doesnt go first round or early second rounf anymore....
First pick CJ, thenc oems around I snatch Peyton and 4 picks later I get R. Wayne.
Drafting positions 4-7 is the worse I think

I would prefer 10 but if everyone is down for 12, that's fine also

That's fair. I was just mad at myself for missing out on joining. I'm already in another league so I'm not sure I'd be down for making a league but if there's enough interest it's possible.

We just need to make sure everyone who joined actually plays the whole time.  I think we had like a 14 team league last year and only 6 or so of us were really playing after week 5.

So let's just keep it at 10.
Seems like there are enough people to create another league and if it dont fill up, they can just go pub with it and it'll fill up in no time.

DCC, think you could edit your first post with the names of the people in the league?  So we know who we're actually dealing with, and always know where to find the list near the beginning of the forum.

These are the people I think we have, however it comes to eleven, so obviously at least one of them is not in the league.

Like CO said, it'd be nice to make sure everyone keeps playing as well.  Maybe get everyone in the league to just state their intentions of playing, etc.  If someone doesn't, or makes it clear that they don't really seem to plan on participating, is there the ability to remove someone?

The comissioner has the ability to remove someone.  I think everyone should definitely state they are still planning on playing sometime within a week of the draft to make sure.

I'm in for the full season.  Definitely need to bone up on some stats, I was unprepared the past 2 seasons.

Anyone who signs up and doesn't complete the season will be roasted weekly on this forum.

I did some quick scanning the other day, and it seems like a lot of us are in EST.  When were we thinking about having the draft (early/mid/late august, sept?).  My choice of day will probably change depending on when we were thinking about.

And I am in as well haha.

I can't remember the last time I was able to access Yahoo Fantasy Sports at work, our interwebz police are working hard.  A couple years ago they blocked imdb.com, my favorite movie-information web page, lousy bastards...  All of my fantasy sports action takes place after work, so there will be times I'll read an update on a player and miss out on picking him up since I'm at work.  Sucks but I deal with it.

See, they block Yahoo, but they don't block NFL or ESPN Fantasy.  Doesn't make any sense to me.

How do we add BudAshes into the league?  Expand to 12 teams?  Wait to see if someone drops out before the draft?  I agree that last year's champ should be in the league.

Like I said, we should give everyone a week or w/e, and if they don't specify their intentions of staying in the league, we drop em.  There are a few people in the league that I don't see on the forums very often, and I just feel it'd be more fun/more appropriate to allow people who are on regularly to participate.  Just my thoughts.

broys, I'd be interested in joining a league if you stated one. I was in the SS/TS league last season. We hardly could get enough teams last year and now this year it fills up before I even find out about it. I guess the lockout worked in keeping interest up.

Every year I seem to get lucky enough to get first pick in my draft but don't know who to get. Should I get a quarterback or a runningback?

If I'm competing against you I would steer you into taking a QB with the first overall pick.  My recommendation:  Tavaris Jackson.

wow, mad people want to join.....they can probably create another league....
I prefer 10, but if everyone wants 12, I dont mind.
Also about draft time, I guess around 10pm EST would be good for everyone?

Make sure they aren't regular posters on this thread too.  I probably wont respond on the actual site as it is blocked at work, so I don't really check it out until the season begins.

Not if you actually want to be competitive at it.  Plus if you are already planning on spending less than an hour doing the research you may start off badly and lose interest quickly.  It can be done I suppose,  but if you aren't paying attention you are bound to play players are are hurt and don't perform well, or even play in some cases.

Haha this is kinda what I'm worried about.  Although I plan on def spending more than an hour, I've never played FF before, but I've always wanted to.  I'm not dumb enough to play players when they're injured, or when they have a bye week, etc.  I'm putting in the effort to do research, keep up with trades during this ridiculous week, and that whole deal.  I'm just new to the whole drafting strategies, and I'm worried that my team will suck haha.

1hr/wk is possible if you watch a bunch of games on tv regularly and watch ESPN or something all the time so you already have a pretty good idea of what you need/want and who you might want to pick up. But, I doubt you would do too well if there are other team owners that do more research in the same league. You'll do better than those who don't watch football and don't keep up with sports news/highlights and only look at the stats occationally, but don't expect to win too many weeks unless you lucked out at the draft and you got a team full of studs.

Everyone has a first time, it really isn't that hard as long as you pay attention to your players who are either hurt or playing terrible and get replacements.  The thing is you can't wait 6 weeks to see if your OK receiver is going to get better, try and find that guy that is breaking out instead.

Also, the draft if HUGE!!!  Definitely put some research into that and have a strategy ahead of time so when that player you thought for sure was coming to you gets picked the slot right before your turn you aren't totally lost and end up picking a defense with your 4th round pick.
