Lol. No matter what restaurant I go to, old or new, I my breakfast order rarely changes. Bacon and eggs!

I'm the same way, if I find something I like then I just keep on ordering the same thing over and over rather than try something new and end up not liking it.

That always happens to me, too! If there's something that I really like, then I never order anything but it. It's a really bad habit but I hate it when I try something new and then it tastes bad and then I never want to try new things again.

I think everyone is guilty of this habit at their fav restaurants. For me it's massamam beef from the thai place around the corner from my house

It's not even 9am and all I can think about is pho and sriracha (sp?). Steak, flank, and tendon.

So I made dinner early tonight (at like 4:30pm) since I skipped breakfast and runch. It was salmon. Honestly, I made up the recipe as I was going. Here's what I did, for those who want to make it too.

Start with 600 g (1 lb.) side cut of fresh Atlantic Salmon. Mine was in the freezer so I had to thaw it in microwave.

While thawing, pour olive oil into a bowl, about 10 mL of it.

Now add herbs; cilantro and dill are good for this. I couldn't find any, so I added rosemary instead.

Add finely diced garlic. I don't have any so I substituted with this powder.

Add diced onion.

Add your preference of spices or make your own. I used steak spice.

Mix and apply to both sides of salmon. Place on an oiled aluminium sheet on a baking pan.

Place in oven for 60 minutes @ 390°F (200°C). This is the only instance where Fahrenheit is ever used in Canada

Put frozen corn into a pot with a few cups of water. I don't have measuring equipment so I'm guessing quantities throughout.

Put on high heat. Add in frozen vegetable pasta and stir as it boils for 10 minutes. The stove element is red, but the camera can't capture infrared wavelengths, so it looks purple here.

Put rice in rice cooker and make it. Pretty easy.

Strain the vegetables and put into a bowl. Steamed vegetables are always very boring.... Add 2 teaspoons of salt, 1 tablespoon of salted butter, and some black pepper and mix. Avoid over flavouring the pasta/vegetables because it will interfere with tasting the salmon.

You'll be done making vegetables and rice before the salmon is finished cooking. I played Gran Turismo while waiting...

Proper marinating of the salmon to absorb the flavour will make it taste much better. I prepared from frozen-thawed, so the seasoning will not have permeated the meat throughout. I ate everything that was cooked.. so full.....

@j_lucky84 I only get half an hour for lunch and there isn't much around my work place to buy food. I think the closest Mcd is a 5-10 drive. My work place is a plant facility as well. They don't want any people to wander into the facility so the entrance and exit is gated.

Its not really a lunch lock in, but it is a hassle to get back in once you are out.

PS: the food pictures are making me hungry alreadyyyy

Those chicken wings look pretty good. Do you know whether this is American food or some other ethnic food?

Gotcha. 30 minute lunches certainly restrict your options. Gated or not, by the time ya go anywhere and get back, ya only have 10 minutes to scarf down a meal. It's easier (and cheaper) to just bring a sammich.

Thanks for the post, Rooster. ? I am makin a trip to PDX in 2 weeks, and wouldn't mind tryin some new food :). FOr those of you who are curious... They have a... MENU!!!!! Looks vietnamese/thai. (and some quick parousing on google verifies it's a little of both!).

I've been making homemade Egg McMuffins for breakfast a lot lately.  They are so good.  Fry an egg, fry some bacon, toast the english muffin, cut up some onion and tomato (avocado if I'm going Big), slap some cheese on it and I've got a party.

That reminds me, this new jingle makes me smile.  I don't know why, it just tickles my funny bone:  The Incredible Edible Egg

You should wake up to eggs each day, and then you'll be on your way
With so much energy, for your whole family
When you've got a real big test, and you wanna be your best
The incredible edible egg

The USDA has made the call, eggs have 14% less cholesterol
And 64% more Vitamin D, than they previously thought you see,
And we just barely got those lines with the percentages to rhyme
The incredible edible egg

It can keep you fuller longer, it might even make you stronger
It might even grow your hair, fine, we're exaggerating there
Microwave it or make quiche, that's a funny word -> quiche
The incredible edible egg

I like their hash browns, they're always so crispy unlike the soggy ones I get at other places.

I've never been to Jack in the Box for breakfast before. If I were to go there, what should I get besides hash browns?

I love Cheez-Its, especially the white cheddar or parmesan flavored ones. Whenever I get a chance to eat chips or Cheez-Its, I can never stop eating them. It's a bad habit of mine.

Did you get the sushi mat/roller thing? We have a few of em at our place and it certainly helps the process! lol. I still suck at it, but the gf's really into that sort of thing, so usually she handles the messy work.

With regard to cheez-its, i like em too.. but not as much as my cat does... Those and better cheddars are her fave snacks in the whole wide world. But don't try to fool her with that generic shit, she's can tell the difference lol.

Haha Go to a local deli and ask the butcher/owner for pepperettes. They get locally made pepperettes in bulk for super cheap. When I lived in Niagara Falls, I could buy 1 kilogram  for like $10.

Lol it really is the best snack around. The locally made stuff isn't vacuum-packed to seal in moisture like the brand-name products, because it's supposed to be dried out and stored at room temp. I also find the brand name stuff, like Schneiders, is too filling to eat and doesn't taste very good. I'll find the address of the one went to in Niagara Falls for you, if you're ever in the area:

No bake cookies are a great invention! lil bit of mixing, little bit of setting.. then BOOM! eat! Lemon bars n all that stuff are gooood. I'm not a fan of the no-bake cheesecakes though. They just always taste off.
