Okay, looked for a little bit, couldn't find a thread like this.

Basically, if the powers that be allow it, this thread should be sticky-d for a tool that newbies, and not so newbies can use to easily find popular thread topics.

Use it before making a new thread if you have any doubts if it has been made before.
Use it to follow threads you posted on, but left town for a while, and want to find it again.

There has been a lot of duplicate threads in the past month or so, more than normal....maybe this can help fix a little bit of that.

The new(bie) FAQ Guide. Lots of great info and direct links over here. Check it out (Thanks ridetimeless, forgot about this one)

Now....don't get me wrong.
This is not an invitation to spam the hell out of these threads. If you don't HAVE to post on them, just don't. Use these more as an information guide to all the popular topics. Granted, if you have something new to share in the topic, have at it.

The main point: Please think twice about making new topics. Do a little checking if it has been done before. The time it takes to make a new thread, you could be a few pages deep in a thread that has already been started, with more information on the topic.

There are also sticky-d threads at the top in the "board room" category, "ask other riders" and "classifieds" for a reason. Do your self a favor and take a look at them.

True story. Newbies should definitely read up on some of the boot links above though (under the new(bie) linked thread) Good information on fit in there. But yes, buy local, where you can actually try the boot on.

good work batman! way to be proactive with the redundancy and actually improving/aiding in making things easier to find for people not familiar with this site. Im sure it won't fix all the problems, but at least its something. Efforts are appreciated.

While I commend your attempt, I think a big part of the problem is that the people that keep bringing back threads from years ago don't care enough to even look at this, let alone stickied threads.  They just pick random ass threads (how they find ones that are 2 years old, I still don't even know), and post their three words of bullshit.

Hopefully this does help the situation though.

Yeah it's a good effort, but it's really not going to help because people will still create what music do you listen to, etc threads

even now if you place your cursor on top of forum the official threads pop up...

^ i'm gonna guess that they do browse through the board room archives and that's how they find it.

i think something that would help people to look at this first would be to continually bump it too, if it's not stickied. i say this because clicking on the "community" tab at the top of the TruSnow site brings you to an automated list of "recently active threads" if you will and if newbies see this thread or another one that advocates proper conduct on the site they might be more likely to actually read this very informative post. so keep bumping everyone.

Thanks for the support kids.

I do realize that this will not help much...but you never know. In my mind, if it stops one pointless duplicate thread every few months, it's a win.

Also, to be honest, a lot of the threads listed above are ones I like to follow. This makes it easier for me. LOL

this is great, i think that its not a matter of ease of finding them, its just a matter of newbies not even looking or even wanting to look.  its easier to post for the points.

Yeah..kinda. Some times if you take 2 or 3 days off looking at the board, some things can slip a few pages back...kinda like this thread more than likely will. Might do a little bump each day the rest of the week around the time of the giveaways, so new members might see it. Like I said before, here is to hoping...

bump..

but no, seriously. Got a dumb question.

Anyone have any idea why I would no longer be able change my hyperlink text to my own text? You know...like when you insert a hyperlink, then change how it looks inserted to whatever text you want. Used to do it all time, even the entire interface of the hyperlink option is different for me.

It happened around the time I updated my browser (firefox) to a newer version, but didn't try to use the hyperlink option till about a week or so after I updated my system. So dunno if it was the update or what. Anyone got some info for a newbie? LOL

^ I use chrome, and I can't do that anymore either. It only gives me the option of entering an Email/Hyperlink, and then the address.  No custom text anymore.  I bet there is still a way to do it, we're just missing something haha

Edit: well you can make one in microsoft word, and then just copy and paste... but that's kinda annoying haha

You have to also remember a lot of people are attention Wh0res and feel if they just post in a existing thread they will be ignored.  However, a brand new shiny candy like thread will have the masses bowing down in awe of their posting skills.  Human nature.

Great rundown of existing threads though, it really is a good idea.

Big enough mate? LOL

Like I said before, I didn't make this thinking it was going to solve many problems around here. But it helps me out, which is good enough IMO...

Remember this thread? I kinda don't...LOL

Really though, we needed a few more threads bumped up to get rid of the spam that is working it's way off the "popular" community threads. thought this would be a decent one. I also needed to find a few threads....so, win?
