According to Wunderground there's mixed rain/snow showers right now in the CO mountains. I just moved to Denver a few weeks ago, so this is awesome compared to it not snowing until late November in NC!

It's a sort of nice thing but it means very little.

Still, it did snow above 12k.  If things stay cool it won't be long before Loveland fires up them guns.

It definitely got chill down in the city last night.  That's the only problem with Denver, we don't have in between.  It's hot as hell or cold, come on low 80's, come join us for a week or two, we really are inviting.

It means A LOT to me coming from Raleigh, NC where it snowed an inch or two in an entire year, usually in February. And even in the mountains it wouldn't even snow till November.

Berthoud Pass has been getting snow all night and into the morning. Forecast 1-2" of snow for Wednesday too.

I wonder if we will have a snow free Halloween for the kids again.  2010 was the first Halloween I can remember since the 90's that wasn't absolutely freezing or snow covered.

Well.. I'm jealous.  Summer seems to be hitting Vancouver now instead of two months ago.  This might be a hot fall for us.

It all depends what you're looking for. If you want to live near a resort in a small town you should also look at Utah. But, Denver is the largest city that's close to lots of ski resorts. Do you already have a job and will be transferring?

August was the hottest August in Colorado recorded history.  We broke a few other heat records too last month.  Its cool and rainy right now, it's a nice break.

Yup. I think it was 11k feet yesterday. I've got friends that live in grand Lake and they always tell me how cool it is to watch the snow level get lower and lower as it gets closer to winter.

Anything over 13k feet here usually will have snowbanks in the couloirs year round...if you are ballsy enough you can ride them but margin for error is so small that most people don't attempt it.

Ptarmigan glacier, Skyscraper, Radio Beacon, St Mary's, all usually have snow the entire summer.  The margin for error is usually not that dire.  A tumble on some of these can send you into the rocks though, which usually involves extreme pain, injury, or death.  So in that aspect rzero isn't far off.

It is great to hear that your getting snow out in CO. Best case here in New England is that some resorts will be cranking their guns in about a month.

Eh, it's going to be in the 80's around here over the next few days.  When you live in a state that has elevations over 14k ft, snow is just not uncommon anytime of the year.  We've had snow on the 4th of July...

It's 74F here in Denver. Weather here is so varied and unpredictable. It'll be 30F and snowing one day and then 70F and sunny the next day.
