This fight didn't prove anything. Floyd dominated Ortiz throughout and would have won regardless of the cheap shot. Floyd doesn't fight anyone that has a chance of beating him. That's why we'll never see him fight Pac, ever.

Floyd's a chump. He was winning and didn't need a cheap shot. It just proved how big of an ass he really is. As much as i want him to fight the Pacman, I know he's just not going to do it. He's just going to keep running his mouth.

well l'm not much of a boxing fan, but either way its a cheap shot even though he was probably just mad at the kissing part to "make up" but still l would say its cheap of him

One of the first things the refs tells them before the fight is you have to protect yourself at all times, his own fault for not taking that seriously

I'm no Mayweather supporter, but Ortiz put himself in the position to be cheapshotted by headbutting MW and causing the ref to momentarily stop the fight in the first place.  Karma is a B!!!

Cheap shop easy call. He was already winning that wasn't necessary I understand the protect yourself at all time argument but there unspoken rules in sports.

I would have dropped him if he kissed me too. Boxing sure has gone down hill in the last decade. Mayweather lays the wood regardless of who he fights, just wish there was a better system and more competitors to challenge belts.

Agreed, 10 years ago I used to love boxing but I can't even watch it anymore.  There are rarely any fights that are competitive anymore as all the good fighters are too scared to lose and refuse to fight each other.  Say what you want about MMA/UFC but they always put on great fights and basically force the top competition to fight each other, when really that is how it should be.

floyd was gonna win anyway...

otherwise, it's still within the rules of boxing, you have to be prepared at all times. even ortiz knows it was his own mistake to expect mayweather to touch gloves.

What you just said totally made sense...not. All credibility went out the window when you spelt Manny Pacquiao incorrectly =P

Yes I agree with the posts that boxing has gone downhill...fighters are just padding their records.

Rule's or not - it's a coward move.
No different then pretending to touch gloves and hitting someone in the face.

Mayweather is a coward - but I think Ortiz would have done the same thing if the situation was reversed.

Sad night for boxing.

Larry Merchant always hates on people, i'm not sure why he's still there. the questions he asks don't really add to the sport or anything, it only increases viewership.

i can see why this fight doesn't feel like it has a winner though...otherwise, mayweather definitely had the lead going into the 3rd round...it was up until that huge headbutt that he just raged or something...

hah gave me a good laugh. the third round ortiz rocked him against the ropes just got carried away with the headbutt. dude, honestly i don't blame him, just looking at mayweather i wanna beat him. still a bitch move on mayweather's part no matter how you look at it even though he was already winning. now let's see him fight pacquiao and get rocked again.

This is why I don't watch boxing. Fighters don't have any respect for each other or the sport. What disgrace from both sides. Headbutt and a cheap shot. Might aswell start biting ears again!

Mayweather is never going to fight Manny....just isn't gonna happen.  If I was on the WBO council I would suspend this guy for 2 yrs for this behavior.

Mayweather needs to man up and fight Paquiao....
At this rate, if they do ever fight, they both will be past their prime....

Let's see: cheap shot vs. cannibalism/amputation. Yep, you're right.

What was Ortiz doing?  They met at the center of the ring and tapped gloves, then he just put his gloves down to his side and got knocked out.  What a terrible ending to a fight.

those 2 were champs in 5-8 different weight divisions. I'm sure they could find a middle ground to meet at regarding weight.  Too bad we'll never find out cuz that is one fight that will never happen
