I have a feeling you're the type of guy that organizes his dvd collection alphabetically haha.

This is a good thread to collect though, it has been getting a bit out of hand.

I do, as well as my CD's. I even went through 43 gigs of music in my itunes and relabeled the genres to better suit my searching needs. What's wrong with that? LOL

from one of the best explanations from another forum...

You would hyphenate it if you use it as an compound adjective before the noun. For example, "anal-retentive rants of Republicans."
However, if you just use it as a predicate noun, it would not have a hyphen: "The Republicans were thought to be anal retentive."

I don't really think I'm all that anal retentive. I just like to be organized. I used to work with thousands of series of numbers at my past job. Tons of data entry in my past work experience and so on. Guess it's just engraved in my brain at this point.

Tell me about, it's been killing my kickball league.  LOL  It's fine for now though. Working through an injury right now, so it can stay this way for a few more days/week-ish.

So, now about snow. This just posted on the site I constantly plug....... http://www.famousinternetskiers.com/snows-for-rea-like-shut-up-srsly-omg-get-outta-here/

As early as Tuesday now, but only at 8000'+ elevation will it stick.  There are even a few slivers of snow from last season hanging out in some creases.  Those might end up surviving a whole 'nother season.

I can still see a bunch of spots with snow on the mountains from Denver. Even more along the continental divide.

It's getting close for Mt. Ashland in SW OR. Nat'l Weather Service is calling for 1" on Wednesday w/a low of 29 at about 6300'.Big smile I guess it'll be time to start checking the lodge cam.
[EDIT]- Rats. Just took a look at the extended forecast, and highs will be back in the 50's by next week. Oh, well. It's getting near, anyway, and it'll be nice to see that white stuff again.

doesn't matter if the weather can't keep it going, especially if it all dries up by next week! D:

Non existent. Still too warm to make snow. Still too warm for it to happen on it's own. Will be for a few more weeks.

Hold tight. The season will be here soon. Big smile

Yeah, should of clarified I was talking about the North East.

Anyone in the places out west that are going to get snow, going to try to do any hiking to get first turns in for the season? Mainly around Tahoe as from what I have heard that will be the hardest hit region. Get out there and earn your turns!!

Winter returns to the Sierra; Snow above 7,000 feet

A cold weather front took aim at Northern California Tuesday, packing a potent punch with as much as 10 inches of snow for the Sierra peaks, the earliest return of winter conditions to Tahoe since 1969, according to weather forecasters.

Posted today - NWS issued winter storm warnings.  Snow baby, snow.

Not likely after this storm but I heard we're supposed to get a few early-mid October winter storms so it could happen in the not-too-distant future.  This will lay down some moisture to get the ground prepped for another big year . . . .  Aside from Tahoe, I'm stuck in Eastern Nevada for a couple days and just saw the SLC news -- looks like the Wasatch are predicted for up to 18" above 8k' and I think it's the same storm.

^^Very nice. Mt. Ashland (SW OR) got it's first few inches of lodge-level snow to kick-off the new season last night. So did Mt. Shasta in NorCal and Mt. Bachelor in Central OR.

So my question has yet to be answered. Anyone in these areas that are getting snow now do a little hiking to get pre-season turns in? If so...pictures?

I just can't help but look at this picture above and wish I was there to earn some turns. Totally looks deep enough. Granted you would want to use a "bruiser" board, and you want to know the run you are doing really well. Nothing sucks more than to break something, or seriously hurt yourself cause you hit a pipe, or a buried rock or other object. It's also a dick move to make ski patrol come get you if you seriously injure yourself, even more in the pre-season.
That being said if you know these runs, get out there and get some!!!

Sorry, I need to live through you lucky folks that are getting snow right now, and those that live in or around the mountains, as there is really not much possibility for me to do this in my area.

High-speed chairs and 7 jump lines and endless jibs. Ill take it. I do get super jealous when I see these pics in early October....

Still though, most of this crust will be melted in a week or two.  So no need to be too jealous.  It's still the heart of fall, not winter yet.  Though LA NINA is coming back, last I heard!!

Woke up this morning and Mt Evans (I live in Denver) was covered in snow. Mountains above 9,000 ft are suppose to get 4-8 inches tonight. A-Basin should open sometime this month.

I read that yesterday in TW Snowboarding mag and found Nub's Nob in MI landed in the #3 spot.  I have not been to Nub's yet so now that I am armed with my Michigan Ski Association White Gold Card (1 lift ticket to every hill in MI) I am determined to hit the Nub this winter.

BTW, anyone else subscribe to both TW Snowboarding and Snowboarder magazines?  The issues are coming so fast I do not have enough time to read each one cover to cover...

Still though, most of this crust will be melted in a week or two.  So no need to be too jealous.  It's still the heart of fall, not winter yet.  Though LA NINA is coming back, last I heard!!

Mammoth Mountain today and it's still dumping. Heart of the fall is the start of the base at Mammoth. Last year snow started falling on 10/5 as well and led to a 630+ inches of snow for the season.

Yeah, it's supposed to be warm again this weekend.  I'd be very tempted to go up tomorrow morning for a hike and ride, but powder without a base I assume = running into lots of rocks. lol
