That was a shame.  Dude got too scared to live up to the hype and just lost it and pretty much gave up 30 million in the process.  Those 2 seasons were pretty magical though.

I dunno if it was so much as living up to the hype, as he didn't want the network controlling him. The dude was being stressed by everyone around him. They wanted to milk the cash cow, but control him at the same time. He didn't want any of that. He wanted to do things his way.

chappelle still does standup at small clubs all over.  My friend's friend has seen him a couple of times in Oakland/SF, even sat at a table touching the stage and Chappelle gave him shit while on stage.  apparently he just gets up there and ad-libs some bullshit that's on his mind, and that he's still freaking hilarious.  Would love to see him these days, he's def one of my favorite comedians.  Loved his show, still watch re-runs all the time and they still make me laugh.  Impossible to pick a favorite episode, but of course the Prince sketch was always up there for me.

Yeah, that Clayton Bigsby skit was probably my favorite.  That show was always funny, and I wish it was still on, but it's kind of cool that he just ended it and went out on top.  He walked away from $30 mil, but I think he's got plenty of cash.

His standup is funny as hell as someone else said.

I love the standup about the neighborhood he rolls into with the baby standing on the corner selling drugs.

Dave Chappelle's stand up is the best I've ever seen.  His show was great, but his killing them softly stand up is the funniest thing i know of and probably ever will know of.

I did not expect him to live in the middle of nowhere. But then I guess it makes sense for a guy who was so clearly uncomfortable with the spotlight.
