Got my Copper pass and some new Ride Alki boarding pants last night. I'm still spoiled by those 70% off sales, so even 30% off on last season's gear doesn't seem like a good deal

Hehe, airhorns.
One 5 1/2 mm socket and I was tearing into my interior like a madman. Shipping is way more than the socket. Turns an $0.80 purchase into a $7 one. Eh, I'm happy.

Got this sweater in the mail today. I don't know how because I ordered it with an expired credit card by mistake and called to cancel the order but here it is. So technically this isn't a recent purchase i guess.

I bet you'll still get charged. My netflix account has told me since last October "Your credit card is about to expire." It expired in November, but I've been getting charged on the new one anyway without updating the info.

Well thats the thing. The card that I used was a prepaid American Express gift card that I got as a gift. Its kind of annoying because they're telling me to verify my credit card information after I told them to cancel the order already. I'll probably just end up sending it back to them.

because plasma has better picture quality, that is the reason people buy tv's aint it not to save money on electricity. besides the difference in power consumption is not that big. check here cnet's top 5 tv's 4 are plasma and 1 led based lcd which cost a whole lot more. |

^alright, I just got a little guy. 39" lcd 1080p, it fits perfect for us though. I don't know what I'd do with a 60ish" tv. I'd like it, but that big is too big for our living room.

Well, I had a 54" rear projection DLP that gave us issues for 2 years and finally got it replaced under Best Buy's warantee. They don't sell rear projection tvs anymore so I got to pick whatever I wanted that was the same price I paid or less and I wanted to milk them for every penny. There were nicer sets with way more features but were smaller then what I had already gotten used to. I ended up having to pay a whopping $6 because of the difference in tax rates from 2 years ago to get this tv! The picture is SO MUCH clearer, the blacks are way blacker, and the viewing angles are amazing! But it is very heavy, very hot, and sucks power. I don't care. It is GORGEOUS!

heeeeeeell no, she's a keeper. i figure i'll treat myself to one extreme pow shape a year until i feel my collection is complete. i'd like to hang on to the LTD and cheetah until it's time to retire them to the wall.
just 5mm, but it's got all that setback and the big swallowtail so i'm not worried. usually i wouldn't go below 20mm on a pow board but this thing is too awesome. pretty stoked that it's full camber too... probably going to be a charger. |

i'd been debating over the solid hover (i have the split version) for a while, and when the cheetah came in it was between those two. ultimately i picked the cheetah because it's pure awesomeness. the hover is too, but.. well you know.. diversify yo bonds. er.. boards.
i could do our hover 56 for about $280 shipped (we'd break even). let me know if/when you want one. as much as people SHOULD have pow boards here, it's just not a very strong seller, sadly. you'd give it more love. looks like the only hovers still online are 2013 and full price...

haha right? i dunno, people here are not really in tune with all that's out there. they really just go up and ride, most of them on old boards. we have a few dudes on pow sticks, but i think most people just don't understand it. all they see is another cost for a deck that they think limits them a bunch, when really, it will open up many new doors (into the white room, of course). i also don't think they get how much different it really is. i think it's one of those things you have to feel to understand. everyone that's borrowed my fish ends their run with the question, "so... how much you want for it?"

2012 Rip Curl "F-Bomb". Black because the water's freezing here and I want all the solar heat I can get (grey one below to show construction and logos that barely show in photos of the black suit). Back zip because I like to get in and out of my suit as fast as possible...without another person's help.
![]() (^don't know why that dude has a "camel toe"...or maybe it's a mannequin) I made my former suit last 6 years with the help of plenty of neoprene cement (only supposed to last maybe 3 years, max). Noticed the tops of the shoulders were crackling open (difficult to fix), so dropped $$$$ on this new one. Stoked. |

Thank you for the link. And very good point; if you have 2 grand to drop on a TV, then the extra $15 per month in electricity probably means very little. And from your link, I see that overall, Plasmas are the king, as far as best picture quality is concerned. But when you look at the best overall TV, LED LCD makes up a bigger portion of the top 10s. I just dont like the idea of my power bill shooting up just to get "blacker blacks".

That's a valid reason. Same reason people say they son't why do drive a high performance sports sedan because they don't want to pay for premium gas every time they fill up the tank. Like you pointed out, it work out to a few bucks a month. That's one pair of movie tickets. If you watch as much TV as my family does, it's a small price to pay for a better picture. If you don't watch as much tv, then it will not effect your power bill as much. Oh, and mine was the low end model with the same great picture but less extra features, so it was only $1200. Let's see how long it lasts me...

I dont really call an extra $3-5 dollars a month shooting up. Besides LED TV's cost a lot more than plasma TV's. So let's say your electricity goes up by $60 a year that is $300 in 5 years. Might still be cheaper than an LED TV even with the money you save with the cheaper electricity bill. And you have better picture. Also the reason there is more LED in that list over all, is because there just isn't that many plasma models(most of them are on the list). And in that best over all tv list 7 are plasma and 8 are LED. ![]() |

The issue with power draw in televisions is the backlighting, not the liquid-gas medium inside the display matrix. The energy you're marketed as saving with an LED display is marginal. There's no question that plasma displays are king of picture quality. And I don't mean the typical in-store LG, Samsung, and Panasonic rubbish; I'm talking about the now-defunct superb Pioneer brand of plasma displays, which were very far from cheap. Plasma has always been a niche market and is now as good as dead, at least since 2009.
In TVs today: power consumption concerns? Meh, there are other appliances in the house that you should be concerned about, namely, the washer-dryer and refrigerator. Heck, even changing some light bulbs in your house will save you more energy than your LED TV... I'd rather have a quality display that can be viewed from anywhere in the room without distortion, good colour, and above all a powerful image processor (that was Pioneer's forte). In my experience, Sharp displays have delivered quite well on all accounts. |

Last week I picked up a pair of Burton's 2013 Ruler Restricted boots. An upgrade for my Ozones that are 2/3 years old. I decided on the Ruler's as they jumped me up from a 4 stiffness rating to a 6. Honestly, it's quite the noticeable difference..... I did this in hopes to find a bit of relief for the tendonitis in my left ankle. I'm just hoping I don't loose to much agility in the woods... this is my first boot that is this stiff, so I'm a bit leery....
Stock photo, I'm way to lazy to take actual pics. ![]() Annnd... for the wife... new ski's! We put quite a bit of time into this decision, the final choice was between these (Line Celebrity 90s) or a set of Salomon Rockette 92s. Similar in tech and colorways... the wife finally decided on the Line's as they are bit more Unique (according to her) than the Salomons.... Not sure if we made the right choice... I guess time will tell. Anyway, here's a pic (stock). ![]() |
