I did a quick search and didn't find it on the site, so I have to share:
Wolf Creek opened up this Saturday, yesterday and today, and will be open next weekend too. I went up Sat and yesterday and conditions were great. Rode with lots of people from Summit and Denver, as well as the usual northern NM/ southern CO crowd. Powder turns on October 8, and no WROD either. Incredible. ![]() |

I also went up on Saturday. I would have to say it was extremely good snow for this early in the season. I'm hoping A Basin opens soon as well. I think they have a ways to go though.

I was just looking at the A Basin site, Al's blog, and it seems like they're getting close to opening.
I'm hoping to ride there the week of Thanksgiving, taking the fam up to Summit. I'm hoping it won't be too crowded since the big resorts will be open by then. We'll take the kids to Cooper since I've heard it's small and family friendly. Might ride a day at Monarch on the way up/down from NM. |

That is exciting! I've got to wait for Winter Park to open their runs before I can hit the powder.

Rode at Wolf Creek today for the first day of the season. Conditions were good/ok/sticky. All the cat tracks sucked. None of them had any speed and had to unstrap several times to be able to make it all the way. Made the hike to Alberta Peak and dropped off there for the only chance of pow that could still be there. It was kinda nice riding on something soft. Ended up going down Bankshot and it took us about 30 minutes to make it down. Heavy, sticky, and deep "powder" was everywhere in the tree trails. Made for some very difficult traverses. Only saw two other people on the Alberta lift. I don't blame em. The trails were terrible. Other than that it was a successful day in the middle of October. I forgot how out of shape I really was..

Rode this Saturday after 22 more inches came down. It was awesome. Hiked toward Alberta Peak and dropped in there for the first run. Then mainly rode some tree trails the rest of the day. Still kinda early season conditions with creeks and waterfalls being everywhere, especially on the backside. Very humbling experience overall riding blacks all day and sometimes resorting to walking to get to a better spot. Successful trip overall. Looking forward to next weekend as well.
Here is a video I just threw together of the first couple runs. |
