    Posted: Oct/10/2011 at 8:55am
My contract is finally up with AT&T and I'm switching over to Verizon.  Can someone recomend me a good smart phone.  I'm not sure if I should go with a Droid, blackbeary or an Iphone?  What do you guys have and do you like it?

Get an adroid system.  The bionic is the new diggity right now and it's hot.  However, I have the droid charge, which is solid.  if you can find a charge you can probably get it for free right now.  The screen's sick, 4g (just landed in reno a month ago) is superfast and the whole thing is pretty slick.

i've had the motorola droid since it first came out and i love it. the only reason i would choose iPhone over a droid is for FaceTime.

^ My Thunderbolt has a front facing camera as do several other droid phones so you can still videochat people.  It's just not called FaceTime

you can't go wrong with an iphone, but personally, i'd lean towards a 4g LTE phone from verizon, its MUCH MUCH faster than the iphone.

I'm rollin the Droid X.  Big Screen, beefy metal case, Android Awesomeness, looooong battery life.  If you don't need a 4G phone (which I don't in Montana), go with what's proven IMO.

Either an iphone or a android system.  I like my android, but people really like their iphones too.

I vote for the iPhone.  I have an Android which is fine, but I like the iPhone OS a little bit more.

I notice not a single person mentioned blackberry...LOL!
I have a blackberry, but only because it's paid for by my office.  Got my wife the iPhone...she LOVES it...I would never own one myself.  Tie you down to much and you have to do EVERYTHING through itunes.  Now, if you are a mac user or already have an ipod/itouch/ipad and an itunes account, then iphone for sure.  If not, any of the bigger badder droids are the way to go (thunderbolt, incredible, bionic, etc)

I haven't paid for a single piece of music on my computer since nabsterLOL  Guess that answers my question.  I'm leaning towards a driod phone but I just don't know which one to get.  I heard the Incredible 2 is good.  or a droid 3.

I would go with the Iphone 4s. I have the 4 and it is a great phone. More speed and better camera ect, Yes please.
The Iphone is a safe bet but Droids is a bit riskier but sometimes with more risk comes better rewards.
I would try and find people with the phones and put them in your pocket and walk around a bit.  One of my women friends wanted me to hold her phone and it was a nice droid from and great but it was just annoying in my pocket. Too big

I actually just switched away from the iphone to a galaxy S and I am liking it. It's just a lot of iphone users have been on the bandwagon since the beginning so they haven't even had the chance to try out android phones.

I wouldn't say the galaxy S is better than the iphone, but I still do love it and it was pretty cheap Big smile

I signed with verizon 3 months ago.
I almost went with the iphone but got the Samsung Charge instead because of the 4G LTE.
Now, 4G LTE is seriously hella faster than the 3G connection.....
If you dont care about the connection speed, then go with the iphone i think.
Some good things about the Charge is that it has a HUGE screen with crazy good graphics.
It has some amolded(?) screen or sum shiet that makes the screen quality the best one out for phones.
The bad thing is that the battery life isnt as good as iphones.

Get an iPhnoe.  I have the HTC Incredible and it's ok but I miss my iPhone.  They didn't have the iPhones yet when I switched from AT&T, but it's almost time for a new phone so I'm getting another iPhone.  My friend has a Thunderbolt and the battery life sucks on it.  He had to get the extended life battery and now it's like a brick.

the iPhone 4s seems to be benchmarking as one of the best smart phones on the market! :O

otherwise, no 4g...which is a slight downer

I thought the new iphone 4s added 4g?

About battery life...it really depends on what you think is terrible and what you have running on your phone.  My wife was used to charging her non-smart phone once every 4 days.  I was happy to get 10 hours out of my blackberry.  My buddy's iphone would crap out after 4 hours, but he had some crazy messaging app running that would constantly check for new messeges.
I think with any smartphone out right now, you can find a way to get it to run from 6am to 6pm without having to charge it.  Yes, some a better then others, but to me, this is not as much of a dealbreaker as the functionality of the device.

well my iphone is pretty good. but l mean like you said, he has apps in the back groudn which can really drain its battery life. the good thing about iphones is the accessories you can get practically anywhere. extra battery in case form.

I'm not sure about Verizon, but in the At&t world you cannot get insurance on iPhone.

If you are leaning towards an android phone I would wait a month or two if you can.  There are a handful of new devices in the pipeline (Galaxy Nexus, Droid Razr to name a couple)  which will be released in the coming months and from what I have read, they should be worth waiting for.

I've been riding with mine as my main source of Music and Communication for 3 years now and no cracks or whatnot.  I just keep it in a pocket by itself and try to make sure the screen is against my chest rather than facing out.

Now that I've jinx'ed myself, I'll prob be in the market for a new phone in the very near future.

You can get insurance on any phones.
Usually charges about $7 a month, and the deductible is about $100

small fact that ios has less than 40% of the smart phone market share.  I would recomend a droid especially if you already use chrome as your main browser.  I mean google will own everything one day may as well bow to your master now.  As for which phone to get, the bionic is the latest and greatest, but the motorola razr should be out in the next month as well as the Samsung nexus should be out around the end of this month.  And the nexus is a beast with a 4.65 screne and 1.5ghz processer.

I have to throw my support for the iPhone.  It is user friendly, so you can maximize your use, and it is leading the way for all other phones.  I hear great things about Androids, and they are leading in some ways, but overall, they are following the path that Apple is blazing, so I am sticking with them.

Regarding the insurance questions, AT&T is more than happy to accept your money to insure it.  I don't think it is a good idea.  If you could add it onto your homeowners insurance, that is really your best option, since that would cost like $10 a year, rather than $10 a month.  But, often, homeowner's does not offer cell phone protection (if you have a laptop or tablet, look into this though).

NEXUS. eff the iphone. if you have an xbox i'd also consider a windows phone cos it'll integrate with your xbl account, which is pretty neato.

What do you mean by "robust"?  You mean you can customize the interface however you like on the iPhone?  No?  Oh, you must mean the droid interface is more robust.
And many of you say the iphone is more user friendly...I thought so to, but my mother-in-law can't even figure out her iPod, so I guess it depends on the person.  For me, user friendly means letting me do whatever I want, however I want...

I would definately stay away from Blackberry! they are crap and about to go out of business! iphone is cool but you can do so much more with a Android phone. They run Flash, so you can see the entire WWW not some of it like with the iphone! I mean why pay for the data, if you cant see all websites.... right!! Also, even the new iphone does not run on 4G speeds. cmon apple, u claim to be the best but you cant run 4g, or flash????

I don't think BB is going out of business anytime soon, as much as I would like them to.  They have so many government accounts due to their secure BlackBerry servers.

And someone mentioned batteries on iPhone...isn't it easier to buy and cary a spare battery on a phone that lets you swap out the battery (droid) then to have a bulky case permanently attached to yoru iPhone to extend the life, since you can't just swap out the battery on it?

oh, and it USED to be that AT&T did not insure thier iphone...had to go through apple.  But Verizon you can get the plan on their iphone just like any other phone they have.  $10 a month and if anything happens to your iphone (or any other phone you have the plan with) and you get a new (refurbished) one.

In case you can't tell...I'm just getting all these messages now because the world wide BlackBerry outage today must be resolved.

I use the Samsung Fascinate and I am very happy with it. It is only 3G, but I've had no problems with it and it's easy for me to use. It uses android tech, BTW. However, my wife (who uses the iphone) has fits trying to figure out how to navigate the android operating system. She is much more comfortable with her iphone. Apples and oranges.

You know BB has been down for the past 4 days right?
