Just found out that there will be a new indoor snowboard jib park in Fenton Mi. There will also be a skatepark, arcade, and shop. Now, I don'e need golf anymore to keep me busy in the summer :). It is called misfit lab,
heres the facebook page http://www.facebook.com/misfit.lab |

I read somewhere online that this project has been in the planning stages for quite a while, good to see they are moving forward.

This is not final, but on their facebook page it said that if you buy a board or spend over $150 then you get a free season pass. I don't know if this is like a year, or a literal season (fall, winter, spring, summer) but it means that passes won't be very expensive. |

SWEET!!!! I've been thinkin' we need something crazy like this for a while. Would have been nice to see it closer to Detroit, this is yet another place that's going to take me over an hour to get to. Oh well. Thanks for sharing, would have probably taken a few months to get to my otherwise.

This is pretty cool!! I wonder how big the snowboard park will be? I guess beggers can't be choosers. I may have to make a trip at some point to check it out.

We really need something like this in California. It would make so much money. Japan has a crazy one where half the building is snow and the other half is a wave pool beach thing. Hella cool

As far as I know it will be open year round. I am not sure now if they will have season passes, but I hope they do.
I believe the pricing for the snowboard part will be $30 all area, 3 hours. $20 dollars for just the jib part, or $20 for just the jump/foam pit. |

They were supposed to built an outdoor slope in Morgan Hill, CA (norcal) but last I heard they pulled the plug on it. It would have been pretty cool to get that out here.

This is the old building where they are moving in to. It has been vacant for 6 years. It is 16,000 some sq. ft. I think they are going to begin construction of the ramps ect. sometime next week. |

it is kinda out of the way for a lot of ppl. Seems like it would do better closer to the metro area. I guess a few trips a summer won't be too bad though. I've been thinking about something like this for a few years, nice to see someone else was thinking the same thing.

^ That's true, Fenton isn't exactly a central location for many people. In the winter if I'm going to drive about an hour to go snowboarding I'm not going to an indoor park, I'll head over to Alpine Valley or Mt. Holly. But this is a good alternative for snowless days. I hope they are successful.
Does anyone remember the skate park that was in Fenton in the early 80's? I believe it was an indoor skate park. I never rode there, I had Skateboard USA in Warren nearby and Endless Summer in Roseville. Speaking of Endless Summer here's a link to some photos taken way back in the day (if I remember correctly Bill Fergusson was a local kid that tore it up): |

True the building doesn't look taller than 30 feet. Could be a problem for getting speed unless they get you moving using something other than gravity

the Misfit Lab is making progress. If you've got a fb account friend them. They should be open on schedule from the looks of things.
Hey, any of my MI snowbros on here- where would you put an indoor place like the Misfit lab? My brother and I had some debate about the best local in the state to put a dry slope. I think the Detroit metro area, he thinks the west side (like K-zoo) would be best. What do you guys think? And would you like to see an outdoor dryslope?

There are a lot of little resorts around kzoo and you would get a lot of riders there. Bittersweet, Cannonsburg, Timberridge, all of those place have a lot of park riders, because the resort is so small.

in the metro area it's mostly park riders too due to small hills- holly, alpine, brighton, the knob. My opinion is the east side due to the high population.

Cannonsburg is on the NE side of GR (about an 1.5 hrs from K-zoo) U can't really lump it in w/ K-zoo ski areas. It was sold last yr and the new owners made it a lot better! Pando is a rope tow spot in the woods about 2 miles from Cannonsburg w/ a lot of park features. and only $13. A lot of the shop ppl in GR ride Pando during the week. I'll hit it up if we get any good snow here in GR during the week. |
