Hey guys, I'll be going up in mid-December, but am a little concerned because there doesn't seem to be much snow right now. Checked the forecast and no snow either :/ Has anybody been up this season? How is it? I'm praying for a big storm the week before I go...

I've heard snowmaking is going on since temps are cold at night, but no mention of new snow on the way.

One more thing:

praying for snow is like F***ing for chastity.  Pray for a negative PNA and a strong MJO in the western pacific if you want snow.

Squaw is open, but Northstar and Boreal are really the only spots worth hitting up right now.

It will stay this way until we get some natural snow.

Also have to give  a shout to Heavenly for doing a a stellar job on the South Shore with little natural snow.

I still say get after it, those three resorts are a lot of fun right now!

Around Dec. 13th we'll see the conditions for some weather systems to move in.  MJO is stalling out, as of right now, no bangers are in the forecast for the week of the 13th.  Moving later in the month the PNA is expected to go more negative so later in that trip will have a better shot at some real snow.

That said, Boreal has been a blast as Doug mentioned.

looks like there should be some natural snow hitting around week of the 18th.. i was up at heavenly last week and the man-made snow wasn't bad at all although the number of trails are very limited. there are more lifts and terrain open at northstar.

Any known discounts at Mt. Rose, N*, Diamond Peak, or other North lake resorts?  I know Boreal has college ID Fridays for $15.
Did you google it?
