Hi All

I am usually board in Australia and in January 2012 it will be my first time snowboarding in Utah and staying in Park City. Now back home I usually wear ski pants with nothing underneat and just a tshirt under my Special Blend jacket.

While in Utah will I be able to rent jacket and pants in Park City? And how cold will it normally get, do you think I should layer when I am there?

Do people have any preferred places for Jacket, Pants, board and boot rental?

Thanks for all your help!

why not bring your gear with you?

Temps vary, I've been in Utah with some base layers and other times in a hoodie.  depends on the weather, Utah doesn't get Colorado or BC cold in my experience, more like a cool Tahoe feel at times.

But you're from OZ, and I've never been there so I can't tell you want it'll be like compared to your hills.

I'm wondering why the OP isn't bringing his gear too.

Zakk is right, Utah is more temperate than Colorado.  Not nearly as cold.  That said, you are probably going to want a lightweight base layer and that should work for you in most conditions.

first, i wouldn't rent clothing, you'll get crappy gear that doesn't work, and it will have been treated poorly by whoever has rented it before you.

second, it can get cold here.  february is usually the coldest, but it can be pretty cold in january too.  generally, i would expect it to be anywhere from 10 to 30 degrees on the mountain in park city, but it could be much colder, like down to -20 or so in the morning (fahrenheit).  I would bring your gear, and bring some long johns or base layers or something in case it gets cold

Cheers Guys.  I am over hear working on the east coast on an international secondment so it was difficult to bring my gear over. Back home we could rent jackets and pants from the rental stores and they were in pretty good quality.

Its probably cos back home gear is almost double the cost than it is here. But thanks for the help I did suspect that clothing rental is uncommon here.
