Camelback, Shawnee then also JFBB and Blue depending on how cheap they make their lift tickets for partial coverage. Daily.

Boulder opened today so the PA season has finally begun. Couldn't make it out today so I'll be at Blue on Friday for opening day and at least one of the days on the weekend.

BB is open weekdays this week as well.

Monday update: Season opening sucks, I miss the mid-season deserted trails and full terrain.

Monday night. Freedom has a bunch of rails if you're good at them then it's decent but the first few days they open the freedom lift is packed.
No jumpline on love yet :(

I'll be at Shawnee most of the season. I'm making a video to showcase their mountain.
I'll post once I get the first edit.

How are the hills of PA?  I'm from the dirty mitten and I've got a buddy trying to talk me into a 10 hour car ride to PA to hit some hills.  I need some opinions.  What are the must visit hills in PA?  My bud said camelback was cool, but there was one around it that was even cooler.  What do you guys think?  What is worth driving 10 hours for?

Big boulder (or Seven Springs) if you're into jibbing. Only have been to boulder (but heard 7S is comparable) and they have jibs and side hits everywhere on every trail, go further into the season though when there is full coverage. Blue or CBK is better for trail riding. If you're at boulder on a powder day head over to Jack frost about 8 miles away - your BB ticket works there too and it's better for riding longer trails and tree riding. You can hit up anywhere on the mountain at JF or BB they have an open bounds policy.

imo theres no place in PA worth taking a 10 hour drive for. might as well add on a few more hours and head to vermont.

Rode Blue today, nothing special. Glad to be riding again but limited terrain with crowds gets tiring fairly quickly. Snow got beat up within a couple hours of opening. Probably be up again tomorrow for a couple hours.

I rode Blue yesterday as well. Wasn't too bad, but got pretty crowded around noon. Not nearly as many people as January and February, but with only a few trails open it got crowded quick.

Coverage on the runs that were open (well the ones that I rode) was pretty good. Everything was hardpacked and alot of large ice chunks, especially one the sides of the trails. Was happy to see that they were blowing snow on all of the surrounding trails that weren't open yet.

Probably wont be able to ride the rest of this week, but hoping to get out for some riding on Monday.

EDIT: heres some pictures that we took yesterday.

Yeah, a friend hit up Camelback a few days ago and said a lot of the trails weren't open yet.

I heard...I went there yesterday, wish they would have been open! The lift lines were crazy long. As for conditions, it was really icy and hard packed in some spots, and not groomed and almost "powder-ish" in others.

They haven't made any snow on Burma Road yet, I was surprised.

Yeah. I think Blue is gonna be crowded for a while. They started letting season pass holders from local mtns ride for free. Both good and a bad thing IMO

Really? I didn't know. Sounds pretty interesting. Is that going to be going on all season or just for a little while?

Only mountains in PA that haven't opened yet. There are only 3 or 4 tops, a couple of which are way out of the way of blue anyway.
Blue will be crowded, but not because of that freebie deal.

The people taking advantage of that deal will only be a small minority of the much larger crowd there this week. It will be crowded regardless of that deal. I could only last til 11 on Monday before I got tired of dealing with the people. That was before the 6pack opened so that should help spread the masses a bit.

yeah, I was there Monday too. It was definitely really crowded. It got annoying at times, but I stuck with it till around 3:30-4 ish. I was surprised at how many new people decided that they were good enough for Midway and then had to stop and try to walk back up, or slid down the rest while sitting on their asses.

at one point my boyfriend and i stopped after getting of the lift and moved back and just watched people attempting to get off the lift. dont get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with falling off the lift. it happens to everyone. but there were people were falling right off of the lift and then sitting and strapping in right where the chair unloads. the girl controlling the lift was either not paying attention or was completely clueless and just kept sending the lift around. so people were riding straight into people and falling and not getting out of the way. must have happened about 10 times IN A ROW. i couldn't believe it.

on another occasion, around the same time, some girl didnt get off the chair in time and went to ride the chair right around, she hit the safety and stopped the chair, hopped off the chair, and rode away. the worker who was controlling the lift at the top, didnt notice until about 15-20minutes until we walked over and said something and she finally came out of the booth and fixed it. i couldnt believe it.

as for the crowds, every weekend and holiday week is going to be busy. just something you have to deal with if you want to ride that day.
