Is p-tex same as hot glue?
If not, what are other p-tex uses. I don't live in the states, so p-tex would mean nothing to the employees in the hardware store :) Thanks |

They are not the same. I wouldn't use hot glue on your snowboard. You can buy P-tex online, I know REI has it. Not sure what they're shipping policies are though, in regards to international. I don't see why wherever you are wouldn't have some though.

Hot glue will just fall out and doesn't even stick well to begin with.

Not the same thing at all. I don't think I'd use hot glue on any part of the board. Maybe for a delam fix, but marine grade epoxy would be better for that application.
Go to tognar.com for p-tex. They have a few options. The one I've used is the p-tex candle. You have to light it with a blue bottle (propane). You don't have to, but it makes it easier. If you go that route try to keep the flame at the end of the p-tex candle blue (keep close to scraper and board). The yellow flame causes excessive carbon build up on the candle allowing a lot of impurities to get into the base with the p-tex. But, there's also easier options they offer. Tognar toolworks can take care of all your tuning needs and provide helpful tips (free)

I'd suggest going to your local snowboard/ski store and ask for some ptex candles.
I'm in Australia and we have alot smaller winter sports market we have them. Alternativly you could buy online from Racewax.com |

ptex is such a life saver. i always end up scraping the crap out of my board whether it be trees or hidden rocks. Especially going on double blacks, that will just wreck your board if you aren't careful

+1 for youtube and also for snowj720's mentioning of keeping the impurities out of the ptex cuz it makes the job look crappy if you don't trust me, I know from experience.
