my girl wants to get the rome S90s but they say they are designed for men.

my question is as follows:

does it make that big of a difference if it is designed for men vs. women? what are those differences?

are there any ladies out there that have any experience on the rome S90s? share them please.

Thanks in advance for your intel. Big smile

One difference in Lady's vs. Men's bindings is Highback size/height.

Generally, a woman's calf muscle is longer and more slender than a man's. Therefore, the highback's on their bindings are shorter to compensate.

She may get highback bite by going to a man's binding, but every foot is different.  One of the chicas I used to ride with used guy's bindings no problem.

I have been searching for my girlfriend with bindings and she has a very small foot. The bindings are built different in a few different ways but IMO in the end it comes to comfort and compatibility. With most women's stuff, including boards, you find them more narrow, lighter weight, more flexible, etc, to fit a smaller sized person, that in mind, there are some puny guys that aren't stronger or bigger than some girls. So label do not always mean one standard or a restriction.

I would really call them unisex.

My girl uses a pair of the Rome 390's.

Good to see you on the forums, Thumbs Up.
Did she modify them at all to better fit her? Custom high backs, maybe?

On an unrelated note, I'm pretty stoked to try out the S90's. My biggest fear was overhang on the (generally) narrower women's boards, but things are going to work out. I'll be sure to review them from the female perspective after a couple days on the mountain.

yea, my girl is mainly concerned about the highbacks so i am not sure if i should buy them for her.

she is pretty short, 5'5"
so im thinking the highbacks might be a bit of a problem. maybe i will go with a female specific binding

generally, the smallest size of any men's binding has a slightly shorter highback anyway. I am a woman and I ride cartels, co2s and forces in small with no problems. I am 5'7" but have shortish legs and never get calfbite issues. go for the s90's if that's what she wants!
