Model year
Since long ago SS not publishing the model year of the products that have more than one year old
This time details years 2012 and 2011, but no more old, with which we cannot know if it is a 2010 model or more old. For some articles, the age is important since materials aging yet use them.
Maybe they can put the year within the specifications, and it would not alter the marketing policies

They could put the companies item number in the description if they don't want to put the year, that would be helpful for the google search.

yeah sadly, l dont think they will be putting up the years anymore. what l did when l wanted to find out is look at the discount to see how much it is compared to the 2011 model. it is basically 5% additional per yr. then l checked the old catalogs to see if it is in there

l'm looking at the escapade bindings too and it doesnt show the year. it would be alot easier if they told but l think it is their way of clearing out older stuff for those that dont know

i love how shady this is and they just do it publicly and don't care.  blatantly trying to get people to buy old shit that normally would be cheaper than it is by tricking them into not knowing the year.

its just taking advantage of the unassuming. those of us with enough experience would at least google search the images and find the model year. i also wish that specs werent removed from older models. that one i have more trouble finding on my own.

it doesn't matter if you can search around and eventually figure it out.  they are leaving it out on purpose for a reason and that's a shitty thing to do as a shop.  really lame.  omitting the truth is another form of lying.

but.. sierra/trusnow has a long history of lame shady practices so it doesn't surprise me.

They don't do that anymore so you won't notice you're buying old gears at minimal discount.

I guess it's good marketing strategy for them or else they would be sitting on tons of old gear.  I suppose they can also give out the old gear during daily giveaways.  I miss the old days of SS giving out name brand gear instead of Sierra boards and bags.

Before making a major purchase you should compare with other sites.  One of them will probably have the model year.

If I remember correctly, even the boards they give away are from 09/10. With shady business practices like this, it's no surprise to me that I haven't  spent a dime here, since they became Tru.

I don't like the practice, but it is pretty common. I've seen a lot of "local" shops sell older product like it is new. Especially if it isn't the off-season. Most people wouldn't know the difference because a lot of product packaging doesn't have the year on it.
Also, really does it matter? As long as the specs are accurately represented (ie. not selling '11 Malavitas with '12 specs) you know what you are getting for the physical product. If you are buying something for having the newest thing, you aren't getting that information. I can tell you, if there is a cheaper model of two represented, the cheaper one is older.

SS was much more shady than TS is.  SS nearly put out so many online snowboard shops.  Porters Tahoe for one.  They were blatantly breaking contract agreements and selling snowboard gear for much cheaper than any other local shop or online shop could even dream of selling.  I don't like that TS hides the year either..  It really is a shady way to try and get rid of old gear.  But I don't think that TS gives a damn whether or not they piss off the community.  As long as they keep bringing in revenues they won't change.  Kinda like Wal Mart.
I buy from dogfunk.com or local shops like Milosport and Salty Peaks.

Edit/ the house ='s wal mart of extreme sports.

Tru's sales might not be as good as SS's, but obviously it wasn't sustainable for SS. My biggest gripe is no more free international shipping for big orders.
