Damn u Arias! error cost the Giants the game along with an iffy strike zone when Romo walked in a run to tie the game. oh well. shake it off and get the next.

Jays on a roll. Still amazes me that they can compete against the very best like the Rangers and Giants yet still be 5 games under .500. Good pitching and solid at-bats is all you can ask for as a fan. Hopefully, this is where they turn the season around with a sweep tmw.

Only baseball players could injure themselves in such fashion. It's hilarious and can't wait to hear about the next injury.

We did have a string of great pitching, but I guess with the way this season is going, can't rely on that too much. Though I've seen much more from this replacement lineup than I was expecting, still don't have that high of hopes for this team until we get healthy....

I think it's so funny that they don't do semi dog piles at the home plate anymore due to injuries. Never known a sport to have a rule against a certain celebration so there would be less injuries

4 HR, 10 RBI, .479 avg in 13 games. You tell me if Puig is doing well.

And I can't believe it, my jays actually pulled off a sweep against the Rangers of all teams!! Hope this is where the wins start piling and they make a push for a wc spot.

i don't know much about baseball but I'm pretty sure since .333 batting is avg/good, then Puig's is off the charts! Sweet. Dodgers need this lift

For your reference:

.333 is a great batting average.  .300 is good.  .270 is average.

So yeah, Puig is awesome.  Dodgers need more batting averages in the good to great area to really get a lift.

amazing that getting a hit 3 out of 10 times is considered good. 3 of 10 is pretty much failure in everything else

Johnson finally pitching a gem yesterday. Really enjoying this win streak the jays got going right now. Nice to know they do have some fight in them. Don't wanna jinx anything but a sweep over the rocks is much needed when the real test begins next week with BAL, TB and BOS. Go Jays!

I think the Jays could get back to back series sweeps here. A long time since I've been able to say that.

The Phillies are consistent in their inconsistency... they look great for two games against the Nats, then blow a 3rd and give up a slam to Ian Desmond in extras.

I know this is MLB thread, but I figure it is better to talk about the CWS here, rather than start a new thread.

HUGE shutout pitched by Oregon state last night.  9 innings, 4 hits, 11 SO.  Looking forward to seeing if Oregon State and North Carolina can fight their way back into the series and championship, so they can have a rematch of the 2007 CWS.

Go Beavs!

Puig is making the dodgers season interesting.  Ramirez is raking too and Ethier is starting to gain traction...Gonzalez has been producing all year...you add a healthy Kemp and Crawford to that with Kershaw, Greinke, and Ryu at the top of the rotation it is hard to imagine them not going on a roll.

Anything can happen from now til September. Lots of baseball left to be played. But expecting an entire team to be healthy all year would truly be a surprise. I can tell you first hand about my jays dropping like flies.  Adding a game-changer like Puig into the mix will help to keep the dodgers wc chance somewhat attainable. But they'll need all cylinders firing if they're gonna contend.

A friend of mine just got drafted a couple weeks ago by the Reds in the third round. It's crazy that he'll be going right to their farm team straight out of high school. He just had to call University of Pittsburgh to decline his full ride. Man did this kid deserve this.

Watch Moneyball and all your questions will be answered.

Damn Rockies have dropped 7 of their last 9.  With Tulo and Fowler out with injuries I cannot see the Rockies making a push to move up in the standings.

I understand moneyball, but basically all of the teams now use a similar evaluation process and roster management... Well, except the Yankees who will overpay to get whoever they want. And apparently the Angels are now walking down the same path...

That's a big decision to forego an education to get to play immediately.  I hope he's got it.

I think they have had the most DL stints in baseball so they just need to not get so hammered to have a chance to contend in the weak NL west...I think they go on a run at some point.

Matt Harvey completely mowed down the Phils yesterday.  They were not even competitive.  Clock is definitely ticking before the major sell-off.

slumping so bad we lost 3/4 to the MARLINS. Though we are pretty injured right now. Still sucks to watch them lose like this... pablo coming back is a good sign. any series vs the dodgers is a must win series

This is the problem. Just wait til everyone comes back healthy, we'll be fine. We haven't even hit the All Star break yet, and we're still right in the middle of the division. Lots of games left to be played.

I'm not really worried. I still think we can win the division or at least a wild card. im just a little spoiled with 2 championships in 3 years. not used to losing much

^ Try being a Rockies fan...

After losing 5 in a row the Rocks knock off the Nationals twice.  Day off today, rest up boys, you're going to Boston for 2 followed by 1 at home against the Mets and 3 at home against SF.

injured or not, today's game still frustrated me. We had most of our lineup there, and even the hits. We outhit the dodgers but just couldn't get anyone home.... And again, I don't understand why bochy left bum out there to start the 8th... lack of faith in the bp? still, he did this with cain a few weeks ago and it left us with the same result...

The 9th inning for the Phils last night was just a string of screw-ups, Manual left Lee in to start the innning after getting hit around in the 8th, Papelbon gave up a 2-run single, then hit a guy, Ruiz has a passed ball to let the tying run score... the end is near for this team (if it has not already happened).
