Cargo has been activated from the DL but probably will not play much due to lingering pain in his sprained finger.  At this point with the Rockies being 19 games behind the Dodgers why play him at all?  Let the man rest and heal.

Thatd be the smart thing to do but the club isn't gonna pay him to benchwarm even if its for recovery. They gotta earn their millions!

Rangers are getting a beat down from the A's. 11-3 in the 8th..looks like they'll be tied again.

Yay! Course I picked the game the previous night to attend where the A's looked asleep.

Picked up the Odds to Win the 2013 World Series while in Reno:

A's: 8/1
Giants: 999/1 (Soon to be mathematically eliminated!)

Love the rivalry between those two teams. It's looking more like they'll both make it but one of them will have to play Boston.

Not a fan of A-Rod, and certainly not excited to see him get an extra base hit, but it was worth it to see him stumble and then faceplant into 2nd Base.

I don't think I've ever come across anyone that claimed to be an A-Rod fan. But yeah, any sort of stumble or error he makes just puts smiles on ppl's faces.

That was shame.  Pence gave it a good effort on Chavez's hit.  Hey, no one ever said pitching a perfect game is easy.

what? there are still baseball games? LOL  the mlb should change their schedule and end the world series before football starts so they wouldn't have to fight with the NFL for fans/viewers. we all know who wins that that fight...

my rangers are continuing the trend of spiraling out in september. 2 and 5 so far this month. they face the pirates next...i hope the pirates continue their losing streak...

Unless your team is battling for a playoff spot your attention will be on the NFL.

Did someone say the Rockies are still playing?  Huh, didn't realize that... I had too much fun analyzing and re-analyzing the Broncos game over a few beers with some friends.

Point taken.

There are some good races brewing in both leagues - Oakland & Texas; St. Louis, Cincy & Pittsburgh; and the Wild Card Races in both leagues.  Texas, Tampa Bay, Baltimore, Cleveland, New York and Kansas City all have a shot in the AL.  The NL isn't as crowded with Cincy and Pittsburgh having legitimate WIld Card aspirations.

^ Detroit is still fighting off Cleveland and Kansas City.  Fielder needs to start earning his paycheck, Verlander and Scherzer need run support (hasn't been there lately).

I think Detroit will hang on til the end. But then again, it'd be kinda refreshing to see the tribe or royals win the central.

Pirates are a great story and are definitely going to make the playoffs, but they have been scuffling as of late.  That sweep against the Cards didn't help.

Really tired of watching ball games where the umps just decide to toss players on a whim! Brutal non-call of the hit by pitch on Miggy last night. Then he and Leyland both end up getting tossed.

yeah...rangers are not doing so hot...matt garza didn't look good..alex rios didn't look good...when the pitching was good (when yu gave up only 1 run) there was no bat support...looks like the rangers are headed to the 1-game wildcard...Cry

Jose Fernandez capping off quite a rookie season with a win over the division winner, a HR, and inciting both benches to clear.  He gets my vote over Puig for Rookie of the Year.

Fernandez had a great rookie year. But it'll be hard to vote cuz Harvey is in the mix as well. Their numbers were pretty similar. It'll be super close in the voting but I think it'll go to Puig only cuz the Dodgers season did a 180 when Puig started playing. It's arguable since Puig plays everyday while Harvey and Fernandez go every 5. So who knows.

Also loved how Fernandez gave the F-U to the entire Braves bench after his homer.

The Rangers have to get some wins in their series against the A's starting tonight or they can say bye bye to winning the division. They might even be in danger of losing a spot in the wildcards...

Crush finally gets number 50! At this point, I can't see Miggy catching up and winning the triple crown this year. Coupled with the fact that he could still be dealing with the abdominal injury doesn't help his cause.

Yeah.  Pretty sure Harvey is not eligible.  Everything I read has Puig v. Fernandez

Puig will win since he made a difference for his team. Glad the Giants annihilated the Dodgers tonight, meaningless though it may be.

Yeah it is a really tough call.

Puig's numbers projected over full season are about 30 homers, 35 doubles, 20 stolen bases and a bunch of highlight plays.

Hernandez has been ridiculous though so both are deserving.

Yeah but one guy helped their team to playoffs while the other didnt but that's the difference between position players and pitchers.

Why is Harvey not eligible? Not enough games played?

not a great time for the dodgers to be slumping...Atlanta is limping too.

Skipping the first round would be huge.

The Rangers are really slumping now..and at the wrong time too. They start a series with Tampay Bay today who are tied with them for the 2 wild card spots. Cleveland is only 1/2 game behind the 2. The loser of this series might be on the outside looking in come playoffs time. With the way the Rangers have been playing this month..they might be the odd one out...

Dodgers clinch...wild ride this year...interesting to see how they rest moving forward...if I was them I would be trying to secure home field in as many series as possible.
