Just wondering if anyone has any legit research on the recommendation for not wearing a beanie under your helmet. My ears get cold and the wind drafts through the helmet making it even colder. What's up with that? I wear a beori helmet which is really comfortable and fits perfectly, and by the way spared me from a bad concussion after hitting my head on the ice. Anyone have any credible research? Or any advice on how to keep my head/ears warm with the helmet on? thnx

yeah last year i stopped wearing my helmet. my ex girlfriend gave me a sweet beanie that had a palm palm sorta thing on the top. So i figured that had enough cussion to save me from getting knocked out. the only problem wit my theory is that, somehow i would have to land perfectly on the top of my head for it to work, and not snap my kneck in the meantime.
haha thankfully i didnt test taht out... but here ya go... idk wut kind of helmet that is, but i do have a major suggestion... Beanies can kinda make it harder and more uncomfortable to wear the helmet on top of them... so just go skier status and wear a headband... it keeps ur ears just as warm as a beanie and it isnt uncomfy or nething. |

i accidentally got my helmet one size too big, so i just wear a tight beanie under it and it fits like a charm and is way warmer.
if anything it would be safer because its more padding. i think its a grand idea |

does your helmet not have earpads? my earpads in both my RED HiFi and ProTec B2 keep my ears toasty. they sell beanies that are thin and made specifically for wearing under helmets. you could also go the ninjaclava route.

Thanks for the suggestions. I like the headband idea. But what is the "ninjaclava" idea? Never heard of it.
My helmet does have ear pads, but there is just enough room for the wind to whisk right through. The helmet really does fit well. I can shake my head from side to side, up and down and it stays put. The Sierra staff actually helped me out with the fitting.

they are sort of like ski masks, but more functional if you ask me. i don't know if Burton is the only brand that calls them that. ![]() |
