Having an abundance of hot, single snow bunnies on the mtn would be icing on the cake for a deal like this!Wink

Oh yeah... I scooped up one, too.Tongue Prayin' for snow bunnies & snowfall!

Two lift tickets plus gas is still cheaper than a meal for 1 on Vday. Totally tricking my lady into going boarding.. haha

Check in there if you'll be out there to show some LHeartVE! So far kimchi and likely giftedhands & his lady are rolling up from the Bay with me.Cool

Good deal except too bad it's far up north from me.  It would be an awesome valentines day to go boarding for cheap though.  LOL

Alright, who else is swarming to Squaw (or Alpine) 2mrw to get a foot of fresh to celebrate Valentines Day?

As I mentioned, I posted the event in the MeetUp section: http://www.trusnow.com/profile_eventinfo.asp?id=257

Although it currently only shows me attending, kimchi & giftedhands will be getting their slide on as well.Cool

Like I posted above, kimchi, giftedhands, his Valentine & myself shredded Squaw.

Like all the other resorts in the area, Squaw has been in dire need of SNOW, SNOW, SNOW! Call me spoiled, but I'm just used to seeing WAY, WAY less exposed areas & thin cover areas. Even with the fresh dose of pow (close to a foot in some spots), you had to be aware of the li'l "snipers" that lurked just below.

As kimchi or gifted said yesterday, this year is the season of Eternal Spring. I rode Sierra on Sat, and, like Squaw yesterday, it was like riding in mid-Nov or late-Apr.

But overall, it was a lotta fun. Got to ride w/ a couple cool & solid TruSnow members. Plus, got to meet Doug & The English Butler (Phil) as we hung out getting our grub on in Truckee.

so coverage outside on the trails was still a little sketchy? I asume most rocks/trees still stick out beyond a foot of fresh powder.

the lack of snow coverage probably explains why they're offering the 2 days for 98 deal

Sorry, I (nor the other 3 in our riding crew) didn't snap any pics boarding or otherwise. I do regret not trying to record a clip of the boarder who hiked up the ridge btwn Siberia & Gold Coast, made about a half dozen jump turns after he dropped off the cornice, then hucked off just above the exposed lower cliff face and stomped the landing w/ maybe just a minor hand & cheek check. It entertained us along w/ the rest of gaggle watching from the top of the Gold Coast 6'er.

While it's true you could see the tops of younger trees, shrubs, boulders, etc. sticking out here & there, the real problem areas seemed to be where the foot or so of fresh had been pushed off these various things due to hard turns or stopping.

We really do need another 3 - 5 day system that hits real hard... so much so that the resorts need to close for a day & half, and the snow gets a chance to set up as a nice base for the rest of the season's snowfall. I didn't mind too much the 6 -7 week dry spell last season that ran all of Jan to about this time last year because we had those early-season storms that set down a solid & plentiful base.

This year, not so much. Basically, ALMOST all resorts got started 2 months late since the looonnngggg dry spell occurred at the start of the season, and we didn't get enough snow in Nov & early-Dec to build a base.Cry
