Im going on a vacation flying Breckenridge and I am having trouble finding an affordable bag that will protect my board during the flight and also give me enough room for boots, bindings, and outerwear. Can anyone give me some direction? Advice? Links? Thanks in advance!!!

Burton gig or dakine tour(which I have flown internationally with), will do the trick, just look for older year models online which will be cheaper.
Worth searching for some other threads on here though, there should be a few. |

To tell you the truth just about any board bag will do the trick as long as you surround it in clothes. Even if it isn't a padded bag having clothing inside will be more than enough protection. You should check out the one that sierra makes if you want something cheap.

the wheelie gig bag from burton uses roller blade wheels whereas the daking high and low roller bags have a bigger wheel. i was able to find a high roller for $100 last season. how cheap are you looking? the downside with the high roller is it cuts 15lbs into your 50lb limit.

I have the Burton Gig Bag... unfortunately didn't opt for the wheelie version. It gets the job done for mine and my girls snowboard on yearly trips to New Zealand.

dude sporttube. That's the best option. I love my sporttube. It's a bit pricey but it's better to buy it right the first time. It's sturdy and big and really great for a couple of boards, boots, bindings, and even outerwear.

Big burton bag works for me. Got a few boards and boots and other gear in it. Just buy one that is a little too long for your board and you'll have more room to stuff gear.

I've got a Dakine low roller that I just used for a trip to BC and it kept everything safe and had plenty of room. Just make sure that you check with the airline about the bag. AA told me that if I had anything aside from snowboard gear in there that it'd be considered oversized luggage instead of sports equipment...

Burton Gig bag or if your tight on money, I have traveled with a board sack before and just wrapped my board with a towel and packed my outer wear in the bag giving it lots of cushioning. It worked well and no damage to my deck. Just make sure you take the bindings off your board.

I was wondering how that compares with other snowboard bags. Is it even worth paying the shipping to get one? |

Cardboard is the way to go. just duct tape the crap out of it. Pretty cheap solution and it looks good too. Well if you consider cardboard and duct tape steezy then yeah looks good.

@humble... if you dont have a bag then yes its definately worth paying shipping for a board bag whether u travel or not its nice for shed storage or any where other than hanging storage if you do have a bag i would still say yes its worth it shipping is going to be minimal you could sell the bag for double or triple your shipping price

Bags are expensive! But a very worthy investment. Check out the Clymb, they were doing lots of Burton bags/backpacks at half off at the time. Only problem is that the sales go for a few days before they change the brands being sold.

Dont think that the bag has to be very padded
As long as the zippers are durable and has some padding. Personally i have a cheap bag and put my coat and snow pants in the same bag to add a little extra padding |

Just get a cheap board bag and fill it with snow gear for extra padding. It's like another suitcase for snow gear :-)

don't listen to the people saying get a cheap bag and use clothes for padding. obviously they really don't give a shit about their gear. The airport baggage handlers absolutely don't give a shit about your gear and they will toss your bag around like nothing. at least if your board bag is a legit traveling bag you will know who to blame (airline) and can get compensated for damages (which i have personally had to do before). But what do you think will happen if your shit gets shtooked up and your answer is "no my bag isn't padded, i use clothes for protection"? you get laughed at for being stupid is what will happen. spend a few dollars and potentially save yourself from a huge headache and a lot of wasted time. http://www.dogfunk.com/dakine-low-roller-snowboard-bag |

i have flow to salt lake 3 times bringing my board in cardboard. Seriously if you are doing one trip its a decent way to go. I removed the bindings and brought them in a carryon but wrapped the deck and screwdrivers in the cardboard. No problems so far. if you can run your board into boxes and rails what is a baggage handler going to do to the deck in cardboard? Drop it from 4 feet? In the future when i get more money or do it more often i will buy a nice one for convenience.
