Well depends on what you want to do?

Queenstown for tourist type activities is the obvious one but i hear that north island is really scenic and beautiful for tours.
If only Queensland had snow...

CharlieZima,

Really depends how many days you have, if you were going just for snowboarding I'd say head straight to Queenstown.

For sightseeing and travel you still want to hit the South Island, its very very pretty. You can visit places where they filmed Lord of the Rings, etc. Touring the South Island is easy, just hire a car and drive.. plenty of places to go.. heres a few I would say you need to visit.

Queenstown
Dunedin
Christchurch
Lake Tekapo
Wanaka
Milford Sound
Wellington (Located at the bottom end of the North Island, you can get the ferry there from the top of the South Island)

I could go on forever, it's best though that you research the place and decide where and what you want to see. I must also tell you be prepared for some of the best food you've ever eaten!! Their lamb is almost as good as our Australian lamb. ;)

Take a look at the NZ Tourism Site.

not just lamb, the beef is delicious too!

Queenstown is a fun touristy town. Lots to do but if your not boarding then a few days is fine. you can use it as a base if you want as milford sound is 3-4hours away (i think).

How old are you? or better, what are you in to?

Adrenaline (bungee, helicopters, world biggest swing)

Sightseeing (milford sound, awesome lakes, LOTR scenery)

Food (really good quality of meats)

Don't approach a goat from the front, a horse from the back, or a fool from any side..

Im actually more interested in sightseeing rather than boarding since it will be my first visit. not into the adrenaline stuff, so i would say mostly sightseeing & food. it wouldnt hurt to board maybe a day or two though ...

but im definitely interested in visiting LOTR set ... !!!

I would think summer (theirs) would be a better site seeing time.  See the sites, but take advantage of being able to snowboard when most of us will be sweating our butts off.

And say hi to the Flight of the Concords while you're there.  It's not that big a country right?LOL

If you are on the North Island (near Auckland) you HAVE to go canyoning. The best group to do it with is a company called Canyonz. Check them out. I know I had an absolute blast with them. The blackwater rafting in Waitomo is also amazing. Also, if you have time, go to Hot Water Beach. It is one of the coolest thing about NZ! And make sure to eat your weight in meat pies smothered in "tomato sauce." There ya have it!

You will be super lucky to get any snow in June. I wouldn't plan on doing anything snow related while you are there. And the snow is nothing like it is in the states, even on a good day.

As xrmitchell said, you would be very lucky to get snow in June. There was pretty much nothing even in early July last year. I'm aiming for a week at the end of August this year. Fingers crossed it's a good year.

It does get powder days, but not to the same quality or depth as US or Canada etc.

last year was just a very bad season/late winter. one of the hottest in 50 years or something. Mountains usually open in early June. Snow is possible in a good winter but if anything like last winter, snow wont hit will early-mid July.

Charlie,

28 - BUS TO MOUNTAIN, ANY SUGGESTION?

Which mountain in Victoria, I'd suggest Mt Hotham. You can find information on getting there on their website. http://www.mthotham.com.au/

03 - ONE MORE PARK??

Seaworld

04 - FLY TO SYDNEY, OPERA HOUSE & OTHERS

Opera House, Harbour Bridge, The Rocks Markets (Weekend Only), Darling Harbour, Take a Ferry from Circular Quay to Manly.

Those are only a few of the many things to do/see, suggest you read a guide book for more info.

Edit: If it were up to me I'd say skip the Gold Coast and spend more time in Sydney unless you really want to do the theme parks, probably worth it if you have kids.

There's nothing wrong with the theme parks, you can take a look at their websites for further info. I was just saying skip the theme parks unless you have kids who want to go..

For me personally, I'm in my late 20's and have no desire to visit theme parks when travelling overseas. A theme park is a theme park, and it's my understanding the ones in the USA are much better.

Perhaps visit Australia Zoo (Gold Coast) instead, which was founded by Steve Irwin.

Also, Wildlife World Sydney is very small. If you want to see animals in Sydney goto Taronga Zoo.

New Zealand is situated on the Pacific Ocean where the lower part is often subject to a freezing polar explosion directly from the Antarctic continent. When the wind blows in this area there is enough ice and snow that blocks the roads and creates great ambiance for skiing and snowboarding. I have enjoyed this atmosphere when I was on a group tour of Koshertravelers.com . There are plenty of ski fields such as small club fields to large commercial operations along with the good accommodation in the nearby towns. I think it would be good to avoid June and July month for snowboarding because the days become short and the roads are quite dangerous to travel.
