Where and when? im heading July to Queenstown. Where everyones favourite mountain?

I was there last season and it was a late season, so not the best snow during my stay but was still a lot of fun. Hoping this season is better.

Just sussing out flights now. Looking like a week at the end of August, probably up near Christchurch mostly, but will probably head south for a day if the snow is worth it. early forecasts are not bumper but we'll see.

Going to convert the gf to boarding before we head back to the US for 5 weeks at xmas. Pray for an early season people...

Have been to Cardrona, Remarkables, Coronet the past 3 seasons. I'll be skipping NZ this season. Will try to get the most value out of my Perisher season pass by boarding locally this season.

I have to head overseas in Sept/Oct anyway so best to save some dollars.

Looking at going to NZ in Sept, after the gridiron season here. Hopfully it'll be like last year, quiet at first then the snow piling down.

I'm now out for NZ this year unfortunately... But it does look like I'll get an extra 1-2 weeks in the US at the end of the year as a result, so not that bad really.

C'mon bumper early season for the US!!!

I just got back from the clubfields west of Christchurch. If you want variable conditions and a challenge head there. A busy day might be 60 people. Heaps of oppurtunities for hiking and traversing. I was with some local mates so just followed them. We hit up Porters, Mt Cheeseman, Temple Basin, Hanmer Springs and Mt Olympus. Got fresh tracks and good snow for so early in the season but there isn't grooming at many fields so it can be hard out. Lodges at the base of the hills are pretty sweet, some do cheap meals that are great or you can take your own up. Everyone is real chilled, your gear is generally save to be left around.
Best bet is to follow a fresh snow dump and talk to the locals. Be prepared to hike as it can often lead to some sweet runs.
I am looking into a Queenstown trip late August / early September with a few mates, never been so see what happens.

Got the tix for NZ from 29/8~8/9.
But my mate just broke his leg... so I'm kinda stuck with a 3 storey 3 room 1 pull out bed apartment 5 mins walk from QT central for me and the g/f... which is not funny becoz it means I either find ppl to come along and stay or find another place and lose my deposit... ah well.. at least i got a month to find 2 more ppl....  plus the g/f is only in there from 1/9~6/9, which means I'm by myself for the first 4 days. forever alone for only 4 days... lol.
Ah well... at least I get to relax when I'm there.

Heading to Queenstown in late June / early July the week before the NZ school holidays (2013). Enjoyed Coronet but think Cardrona allowed more freedom. Would like to check out remarks if I could too. Love the scenert in and around QT. Such a beautiful country.
