    Posted: May/09/2012 at 6:38pm
My wife and I are setting off on a long road trip this summer with the sole purpose being to capture as many amazing images as we can. We will be traveling from Las Vegas up through Canada and into Alaska. We plan to be out for at least 28 days and will be camping, fishing, hiking, exploring, photography, ect....

The main point of the trip is to create photo books, canvas prints, and an online art gallery. We just started a project on Kickstarter.com and I need help spreading the word. Please visit the site and back us if you like the project and would like to be a part of it. If you can't back us but think the project looks cool than please help spread the word by telling your friends and liking our project on Facebook.

We need your help!!

C'mon Nick, you used to be a regular, then you disappear for a long time and outta the blue you re-appear asking us to back you on your venture.  We feel like 1-night stand ho's and then you ask us for cab money... how could you love us and leave us?

On a serious note, I do wish you well.  I'll take a look at your kickstarter site and see how I feel, maybe I'll throw some cab money your way since I feel so dirty now...

nah - your photos look very run of the mill/amateur.  You'd, first, have to publish a good portfolio of your work for me to even consider investing anything.  Not gonna pay for your trip just so you can go out and play with a camera, but have no talent and/or training in photography. There's already plenty of great pro photos of alaska out there.

anyway, I already spent all my money on the eflex kickstarter (jk)

DUDE! Good Luck! My wife is from Alaska... I got to go there for my first time in 2010, it is AMAZING! That place ispires ANYONE who steps foot there. HAVE FUN... be careful and smart! Go catch some Salmon, Silvers and Kings... and some Halibut! YUM!

Try shooting some bracketed shots, 3 or 5 exposures then take from them the best lighting and pump out some sick landscape photography! GOOD LUCK!

Haha thanks for the knock on the photos. Maybe if you actually read about the project you see it is not to pay for the trip. It is to help with the publishing of books, prints, website, postcards, ect..

The point of the trip is to live off the grid for a month or more and document the entire experience. And as for no experience in photography I'm not sure where you get that. Read a little more before you post garbage.

I was a regular and I do still lurk but it just seems the site has changed a lot. I'm going to try and come around more but I have also just been busy with a lot of different things.

Didn't really mean to sound like I was begging for the backing. If anything just really hoping people will spread the word. The more people that know about it the better.

Yeah this is the first long road trip that we will actually have time. Anything we have done in the past was pretty much driving straight through. This trip we are actually going to park the car along the way and just head into the wilderness. Should be an experience.

I'd say good luck, but instead I'll say have fun and good travels to ya.  I'm sure you'll have a blast and if you don't get good pics from the trip we'll just assume you've been taken hostage and are locked up in a crate somewhereLOL   Sounds like the trip of a lifetime brutha, enjoy it.

^ Totally.

I'll share your link on my fb page.  Trying to get backers to cover you on a vacation might be a bit tough, but you might be able to pull it off.  You guys should call some moring radio shows or something to get some buzz too.

It is not covering the vacation. The money the is raised is for the production of the book we are creating, the postcard printing and postage, the creation of an online gallery, and other costs associated with the production of the product. The trip itself doesn't really cost much because we aren't staying in hotels, we are fishing for food and bringing things from home, and we are not wasting money.

I wish you the best in raising the donation goal.  I have seen many friends raise $10k (or was in $5k) for a team in training event and it took them 4 months.

Did you google it?

Did they use kickstarter too?

Anyways, I think it would be more epic if your travel was all by foot.  LOL  Best of luck to your project!

If anyone here was going to back this project what would you want to see as a reward and for how much? Just looking for some input here. Would like to know if I should adjust anything or offer anything different.

I just updated our video on kickstarter so it will explain the project better. So if you feel like seeing me look kind of stupid in a video you can check it out at the kickstarter site. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1375000958/husband-and-wife-photo-team-on-a-7000-mile-alaska

61 likes on Facebook and only 5 backers. I don't get it. This Kickstarter stuff is just weird when it comes to what ends up getting funded and what doesn't.

Oh well, still 22 days to go.

^ I don't think Nick is un-appreciating the "likes", sounds more like he's frustrated that many people have "liked" his project but few are willing to put their money where their mouth is (or whatever that cliche is...).  Sure, it's easy to "like" something on FB and it doesn't cost you anything.  Making a donation on kickstarter takes a little more effort and costs something.  Thing is he even put a $2 category on kickstarter so it's not too much of a reach for those on a tight budget.

Yeah I think you took that the wrong way. I'm glad that many people like the project and clicked the like button. I was simply pointing out that it was weird there were so many likes but not that many backers. Not trying to take anything away from the people that clicked like.
