I watched the 30-for-30 episode about Marcus Dupree last night. The vintage footage of him destroying defenses was really entertaining to watch. But the story is really quite sad :( .

That is probably true.  But if Welker sees his value going down, he'll sign with the Pats for less.  A big part of his success is his Chemistry with Brady and Brady's trust in him.  That is a big roll of the dice if you tried to get paid, but you wind up in San Diego, or St Louis, or Carolina, and you become irrelevant.

Speaking of new logos, here is the evolution of the Oregon State Beavers logo.  I don't know if the new "benny" is final, but it is a shocking difference from the original.
I don't hate the new one (since I kind of did dislike the last one), but I don't know if it is going to get the boost intended for the program.

At least those changes are significant & very apparent. Unlike the NFL team logo changes that are so insignificant that they remind me of those 'Can You Spot The Difference' pictures you would find in a children's book. Of the 4 Benny's i would say the newest one is the best.

That's true. The panther's one just became a little glossier and therefore has more depth, but not really a change.  I have thought that as well with the bears last logo "change" and Michigan State change of the spartan profile, where it was a big deal, but really wasn't a change of logo.

People need to justify their role with the company so they can keep making money. Hence to logo changes that basically don't change anything

That and new logos = new style jerseys = people spending $$ to get em. Doesn't really change anything about the team. New logo or old, the Dolphins are still $#!++y. It's all about revenue.

As it pertains to OSU's logo.. new Benny looks like it could be a fish face if painted a different color.

the beaver logo looks like a logo I would see on a hockey team, not a football team

I was thinking I would actually like to see a benny logo more like a hockey team.  More specifically like the Sharks logo, where benny is coming at you, but instead of biting a hockey stick, he is biting a duck or cardinal in half.

Nnamdi got exposed. Still a good corner but I don't think he wants back in Oakland. If cut, he'll probably seek a contending team.

The eagles better cut Nnamdi. He was a cancer in the locker room last year. When Vick said the team quit, it was Nnamdi he was talking about. He was exposed, all you have to do is go deep on him, he lost his speed.

I think teams hold onto skill way tight and often above what's good for the locker room.

I wouldn't mind going out in Vegas with Gronk, he knows how to have a beer or 10.

Gronks the man! By far the best tight end right now, he just needs to stay healthy.

I am not super into partying, over drinking and acting a fool, but I really don't have a problem with Gronk.  He is going to be video taped EVERY TIME he is in public, and when a few beers turn to 10, dancing and jumping around is a natural result.  I haven't seen enough to suggest alcoholism or drunk driving or other advanced concerns.  This will likely where off after a few years when he realizes that there are better ways to spend his time.

However, regardless of what happens on the field, I would take his behavior any day over guys who are going to clubs and taking advantage of intoxicated women, or being violent at home with girlfriends.  #perspective

Who cares about what players do on their off time as long as it's not illegal or affect how they play on the field/court...

Clear your schedule. Jamarcus Russells pro day is in April. He's now under 300 lbs. Also expected to attend, Larry Fitzgerald.

Some WR from Texas ran a 4.27, 40. He's most likely on the raiders radar.

I am mildly interested in the combine/pro day workouts this year.  It is so hyped up for not directly correlating to success in the pros.  I expect a lot of hype leading up to Manti Te'o this Friday.

Haha. He ended up running a 4.82, far from impressive compared to many of the other LBs. Will his draft stock drop? Probably. But I wouldn't have assumed an LB to get a terribly huge deal straight out of college anyway.

In other news, the Pats resigned Brady for an additional 3 years (which means he'll be 40 when this contract wraps up). Belichick has never been one to stick with aging players, so i was minimally surprised to see this. Brady's still playin a damn good game. Though at some point I imagine Brady's role will be more to share his talents with his replacement than to consistently squat under center. Time will tell.

Does anyone think Tebow can score himself a gig anywhere in the league? Coming from Denver I thought he had a slight chance but now I don't think anyone will give him a shot

I can see him as a RB/FB on special packages. But not as just a QB.

true. i was thinking as a QB. but who would pay that much for a "specialized" player? but i'll admit though that he has a better chance than jamarcus russell playing in the league again.

I don't think he'll get shot at any position, and he is persistent that he wants to play as a QB which will further hinder his chances

They'll be looking and there will be many options.  I am curious to how this "shopping" of tebow will go.  I don't know who is going to trade anything for him.  You can't give up a player and add a distraction that splits your fan base.  So what...here's $10,000 for Tim Tebow?

Really interested to see who the Pats go after, Brady signing his low extension shows what type of competitor and man he is. If they add another receiver to add that deep threat back, ala Moss days, they will be competing for the Superbowl until Brady retires

Smith to the chiefs would be the easiest for him. A good HC and in a weak division.

There would be less expectations on him and Reid would treat him well.

I don't know if signing a lower extension speaks to what kind of man he is besides a SMART man. Brady made a decision that people rarely make to stay to win, rather that leave to get paid.  That is a calculated decision and a good one in my book.  Fortunately, he has the financial security to make that choice easy.

I think a deep threat receiver is a need and some puzzle pieces to make their defense less porous will lead to a complete package that probably will help them go further in the playoffs next year.

Agreed, that a deep threat would be great but not really a priority to address as much as the defense.

very fitting, since all our good QBs, who haven't retired on good terms with the 49ers, go there...i'm happy for him and wish him greater success than he ever found on our team

he had EVERY opportunity to make us hate him so much more...
but no, he was a class act ALL the way through. he has raised the bar SO MUCH for the organization and that is definitely the greatest legacy he has left with the team. i'm proud of him and hope that he is somehow inducted into the 49er hall of fame.

Following the footsteps of Joe Montana. Drafted by the Niners, traded to the Chiefs.
Now the Niners have a bunch of draft picks. 10+ picks. The team is pretty much set, 10+ rookies aren't gonna make this team. That war room is gonna be busy on draft day.

That is a huge bonus for the niners, as they can trade out those picks to meet their needs.

funny how he doesn't mention that he got more guaranteed money after the restructure...and he can restructure the deal again before the end of the contract and get even more guaranteed money in the future. the current numbers are very misleading as to what he'll put in his pocket. but, it does give the team more cap room. it's a win win for both the player and the team. but people like to emphasize on how it helps the team more  and make brady out to be a giver...not really the case if you look a little more closely.

A man with perspective perhaps

I do like that quote.

funny how he doesn't mention that he got more guaranteed money after the restructure...and he can restructure the deal again before the end of the contract and get even more guaranteed money in the future. the current numbers are very misleading as to what he'll put in his pocket. but, it does give the team more cap room. it's a win win for both the player and the team. but people like to emphasize on how it helps the team more  and make brady out to be a giver...not really the case if you look a little more closely.

does really matter all that much who is getting a better press?  you cant blame a player for trying to get the most money that they can while they still are at the peak of their profession. and brady giving up some of that contract is a risk. any NFL team will throw any player aside once they cant play (peyton and colts). The team has to keep the salaries under the cap so if they pay brady more later then its all good for them. anyways brady is getting older and no longer being needed by the Pats. they are getting a better deal if they delay his pay? if he starts to suck then they just cut him. if he gets hurt cut him.  he is the one taking the bigger risk.
