Rivers imploded.  That was sad to see.  Poor guy is on his way down.

That second half was kinda awkward to watch. All the momentum swung to Denver and Rivers just fell apart. It wasn't all his fault, but you cant turn the ball over that much and still win.

Even in the first half, he didn't look real solid.

I don't think Rivers is really on his way down. I just think he's always been overated. I mean at one point they thought he was a better QB than Drew Brees. Rivers will always be a mediocre QB.

Exactly, right? Since the QB is generally the face of the organization, every fan wants to deify them. But unless ya look at the grass from the othe side of the fence, it can often be a bit misleading. No ones saying they could personally throw a ball better than Rivers.. but in the long list of NFL QB's, he's CERTAINLY not part of the elite. THe media wants to love the guy cuz he's so "nice" and religious, but when it comes down to it, it's your job to win games, and he hasn't really done that.

pardon the typos, im lazy :)

With Thursday night games it seems like it's football 24/7...which is a good thing of course.

Will be interesting to see if the 9ers can bounce back, not an easy task facing one of the elite D's in the league.

Green Bay was needing a win and needed to prove a point. I think they had this game regardless of Houston having Cushing or not.

Seattle's defense does appear to be quite tough, but they are only 1-2 on the road, and that one win was an ugly one over Carolina.  I don't see them taking SF down, especially an angry SF that just got handled by the Giants.

Thats good for the Niners. A short week to forget about an ugly loss. Seattle is tough but Harbaugh has Carrolls number. Goes back to Stanford/USC days.

I agree with Grape.... Seattle is really only dominant when they're on their home turf. CenturyLink Field (Hate that name) gets loud and it's intimidating, but they're not a good road team. Nevertheless, they're gonna be riding a high after takin out both the Pack and the Pats. I don't expect this game to be a blowout, but 9ers should have it.

Seattle seem to step their game up when they play a better opponent (i.e. GB and NE). I'd expect the same when they play SF. But, looking at the rosters, it's hard to imagine the Seahawks going out with a win..but..that's what we all thought when they played the Packers and Patriots. Confused

I think it was god's way of throwing Cowboy fans a bone. They didn't have any ammo to use against us this year.

Looking at the rosters I'd say Seattle stacks up pretty well against SF. Both have great D's and a good running game

Harbaugh is about the only guy who can say he got the best of Pete Carroll during his USC days.  Of course that could have something to do with the fact that he was only at Stanford for the tail end of Carroll's USC tenure.  Things may have been a bit different if he had been around a few years earlier.

Nope, USC was going for a BCS championship when Harbaugh beat them. I think that was the "what's you're deal" game.

That's not an injury I would push. He re-injures himself and he's out for a whole year including the playoffs. I'd give it another week or two to heal. They'll need him more in the playoffs than they will the next 2 weeks.

Is the line still at San Fran +7 for tonight?
What do you think?  I'm taking San Fran to cover.  I don't think Wilson is quite ready for a hostile crowd and that defense... not yet.

I'd say the same thing if it was in Seattle but since it's in San Fran I might take the 9er's -7. But if their offense does a repeat of last week I might take the Seahawks out right.

Bullshit. Harbaugh beat Carroll when USC was ranked #2 (iirc?) with a subpar roster. Remember the game winning pass from Tavita Pritchard?

And then Harbaugh killed him during the "what's your deal" game, when Stanford went for the 2 point conversion after being up by a couple of TDs late in the game.

Pete Carroll is an awful game-time coach. Really good organizer and "rah-rah" guy, but a lot of his on field game time decisions are questionable at best.

Little Petey was only good down at USC because he was able to recruit superior talent compared to the other teams in his conference. Now that he is in the NFL and the league parity is high, he doesn't look so stellar right?

Not a huge fan of either teams, but I'll be rooting for A.Smith tonight. Don't need a big game from him, just hope he doesn't have a terrible one.
This is gonna be a pretty sick game. After the upset win by Seattle, they actually have a chance to win this game. Both defenses will be playing good so it's gonna come down to which offense shows up today.

Not pretty, but good enough Niners!  Nice bounce back.  Now let's hope this leads to better play in upcoming games.

too bad alex smith looked a little bit like his "old self"...and that's not a good thing :/
i'd rather lost yard'age than letting an interception get in...

So what are you getting at?  All I said was that Pete Carroll was hugely successful at USC, and Harbaugh was one of the few guys to get the best of him during those years.  But Harbaugh wasn't at Stanford when USC was at its best, which would obviously be 2003 and 2004.  Clearly Carroll had gobs of talent.  Nobody is arguing that.

Two tough defenses in a row for the Niners. They get an extra long bye. I don't think they play till the 29th.

What other bets did you have?  The safety would've made a loser/winner not a push with the line, so you had to have something else out there...

That almost-safety was a mess! I was happy to see the pick.. then i saw him leave the endzone and was like "wtf are you doing?!" then he backtracked into the endzone when trying to avoid tackles and i about shat a brick. Just fall down and take it at the 20, fool!

SF was (marginally) the better team last night. Despite the fact that both teams' defenses had on average given up less than 17 pts/game, both had PLENTY of chances to add 10-14 points to their final scores. But that untimely turnover really hurt the 9ers (actually a bit surprised they were able to keep momentum), and dropped passes were second nature to Seattle (nothing new there). Those defenses are straight up vicious though. Gonna be a good season to watch in the NFC West.

And you are right, Solo. They don't play til they visit AZ on the 29th.

I'll be danged.. it got all the way up to 9??!! that's insane!  I wonder how much of the bajillions of dollars moving around could possibly influence games... even in a little way. (i'm not saying there's rampant betting by insiders in the nfl... just curious)

You know how hard it is to win by a certain amount of points? If you think he declined the safety, you should think Smith threw the INT in the red zone on purpose. Cuz they would at least tried for a FG.

That definitely was pretty interesting coaching move. Most coaches wouldn't even bother with trying to overturn that probably. The only thing it really does for the team is I guess to prevent injuries on the kick return. Which I guess is a pretty smart move considering how often players seem to be getting injured on the returns. I never thought about how that effecting betting, but I don't sports bet so it doesn't bother me.

They could've fair caught the kick off though couldn't they? May as well just have the ball in your hands safely though and take a knee to finish it off. Was a good game to watch with some brutal running

The spread went up to 9
It was at 7 and went up to 9 on the day of the game
I barely won that

I suppose that's an option, but regardless of fair catching, players are still brutal trying to get downfield to block/get to the kick returner. Getting the ball back and taking a knee is simply less injury-prone, and still likely a guaranteed win (save a complete disaster on a fumbled snap). It was a strange turn of events that kept that game going a few minutes longer than it needed to, but I htink the right call was made.

On that note, i guess i should hit the hay. The Baltimore/Houston game starts early :). See ya all tomorrow.

I see Houston winning that game. Now that Lewis is out, their definitely hurting big time on D. I have A.Foster on my fantasy team, so I hope he ends up having a big game. Really looking forward to MNF though. Awww yeahhh, BEARS!

No no :(. I live in Eastern Oregon, so realistically the only games I'm able to see are Seattle home games. (Possibly Denver if i was really up for a drive.) This was just one of this weekend's games that really stood out to me, so  I wanted to watch it. Normally i sleep in on sundays and only catch the second half of the early matches.
THat sucks that ya haven't been able to use your pass this year! Especially with how well the Texans have been playing (save last week). I do think they're better than last week shows. But I know eith or without Ray Lewis, Baltimore is really hungry to win their division this year (and with Pitt and Cincy on the fritz, it might be their best opportunity), so today's game should be REALLY hard fought.

Rodgers is on fire, Pack Attack! They should have 2 more wins on their record right now. Seahawk game was BS and they should have had the Colts.

RG3 is too sick. The guy avoids being sacked and throws for a first down on 4th n 10. Followed by a TD pass the next play, with only about 2 mins left to take the lead. What a huge boost that guy is to the Redskins.

Man, I can't stand timmy rah rah or the Jets, but the Hoodie and Brady are 10 times worse!  Can they both loose for me?

At least tommy doesn't preach.  I'll go hoodie 35, the mouth 24.
