After taking a few months off, i'm back on the Autopia Chronicles.  Hit and miss... i think all the stories are goin to merge eventually and be good, but for now just tedious.

I can't say enough good things about the Wool Omnibus (Silo Series books 1-5) by Hugh Howey (Spelling??)

You can get them through the Kindle store or on Amazon, but it's online only still i believe.

I just finished the Shift series by Hugh Howey.  It's a prequil to the Silo series tha rave about so much.

It was pretty good, but not perfect like the above mentioned.  I'd say 4 of 5 stars, mainly because a charachter kind of went rogue at the end.. but it was definitely gripping in most places.

Now, on to Dust, the final book in the series. Kind of bummed that this won't go on forever to tell you the truth.

My mom hooked me up with a book called "A Walk in the Woods" by Bill Bryson.  It's his account of hiking the AT back in the mid-90s.

It's really really good so far (i'm about 1/2 way in).  His writing is funny, clever, well thought out, and informative too.  It has a nice flow in it.  It's easy to forget it's non-fiction, because you really get wrapped up in the story of him, his buddy, and their adventure.

As someone who has just gotten into backpacking the last few years... I'm really enjoying it!

^ Well, the 2nd 1/2 of the book wasn't as good as the first half.  it kind of ran out of steam.  Two other complaints: 1. he is constantly berating people trying to "talk gear" and give him tips and advise... yet he proves how unprepared he actually is out there.  Total hypocrisy.  2. I suddenly realized how much littering these guys do.  Cig butts, trash, and even gear is "thrown off a cliff."  it was funny at the time, then I realized they are just f'n littering.

Darwin and the Barnacle

More of a historical account than about his process per say but still some insights in that area as well.  Not as interesting as I would have hoped in that it leans towards the historical side which is not my thing...

I read Chris Moneymaker's book about his World Series of Poker run. Short but fun. I liked "Positively Fifth Street" by James McManus better, besides the murder trial part.

Both of them were good because of the play by play and thought process as they progressed deeper and deeper into the WSOP.

I am in the process of reading The Pillars of the Earth. It is an interesting book about building churches and cathedral. It's non-fiction to try to keep your interest. It's good but I think the book could've been condensed down from over 1000 pages to 500. Still plugging along though.

I might re-read the original Dragonlance series again. I read one of the numerous spin offs that reminded me of the original.

I liked it^. I've read most of Ken Follet's books, worth a look. It is a bit long, I'll give you that. I think they made a movie or mini series? Not seen it though.

I've just ordered Ted Simon's books about riding a triumph around the world in the 70's.

I have some Raymond Feist books to read. 3 or more books in the series. Love his books too.

You know ppl say that reading books is good for your mind. People think that you are more educated. But I read Science Fiction books mainly so when someone thinks I'm smart for reading a lot, I don't ever understand that. Maybe my imagination might be greater than their's. (I guess I could use a green lantern ring pretty well. lol)

I'm reading Monuments Men at the moment. It's pretty good if you're into war history.
Will have to check out the movie once I'm done.

On VaCa I read the Sand omnibus by Hugh Howey.  I love the way he writes, and you've heard me rave about his Silo Series in the past.  I liked the book, but was disappointed it ended where there could have just been another chapter.  Common thing with Sci-Fi me thinks.

Now I'm re-reading the 2nd book in the Millennium series: The Girl Who Played With Fire.  Damn good if you haven't read them yet!

Tried something new on last weekend's trip to ZooTown (5 hours each way).  I got an audio book (honestly, book wasn't that great... Farside by Dan something or other), and that was a waaay better time to spend 10 hours driving alone!

Next up: "Delivering Happiness" about the Zappos guy.  I'll give it a listen on the golf course this weekend.

Just finished M.R. Carey's "The Girl with All The Gifts"

Thought it was a superhero book but it's not. not a bad read if you're in to the zombie genre.

Another audio book for me lately: "Dad is Fat" by Comedian Jim Gaffagan.

Pretty good, mostly about becoming a parent.
