I am in the process of the hiring process for a job that is based out of Port Washington, NY
If I were to take the position, I was just wondering where the closes place to snowboard was. Thanks in advance. |

Closest place is going to be Mountain Creek in Vernon, NJ (tiny mountain, a lot of park like Boreal in Tahoe)
Next it's probably Hunter Mtn or Windham Mtn in middle NY. Then if you keep going north you got Lake Placid and Vermont.

I had a feeling that it was going to be Mountain Creek.
I have been there a few times. Its is going to be hard if I take this job, since I have 5 miles from my home mountain right now. |

Wow five miles! I have to drive an hour to get to my nearest mountain. I would be there everyday if I lived so close.

When I was younger I was there at least 5-6 times a week now I go probably 2-3 times a week.
I over guess when I said 5 miles, google maps says 3.5 I am used to drving as well, I live in Southern CA and I drove to Big Bear 2-3 times a week and that was 1.5+ hours one way |

Haha its literally just down the road for you.
I have no problem driving up to the mountain because I love doing it. Its just the gas prices that don't allow me to go as much as I would like.

That is the truth buddy. When I live in CA I would drive one day and my friend would drive another day.
Carpooling FTW! |

Belleayre Mountain, about the same distance as Hunter and Windham. From Port Washington about 135 miles. Not a bad trip if you start out early and get through NYC before 8.

If you're still staying in LI, check out SundownSki's website. They have bus trips to Vermont every weekend. I've been going with them a lot last year because we're always too tired to drive back after a full day of riding.
