Hi all,
As you guys probably have seen more than enough of these threads.. I'm going to just throw another one out there because I'm buying a new one... With about 3 seasons under my belt, I think it's time to upgrade. Height: 5'6'' Weight: 155 Location: NorthStar, Heavenly, and Kirkwood, Lake Tahoe, CALIFORNIA! When: All season: early, prime, spring Current Gear: Sierra Reverse Crew 151 (reverse camber, midflex) 2012 Burton Malavita, Medium 2011 Burton Hail Coalition 8.5 US I prefer doing plenty of park but also plenty high speed carving, tree running, natural terrain stylin', and powder surfing. Am I asking too much? Please help me out dudes and dudettes...! I was thinking of... *Flex: ~5 *50% park 50% mountain *151-153cm *Hybrid Camber (something different, but similar to the RC I've been riding) *Jumps over jibs (but wouldn't mind trying to progress on boxes) *Fast and holds well at high speeds (minimal chatter, if any) while plenty playful (butterful). *Holds great on ice. *Powder surfer *Never catch an edge! I was also thinking of, DEF not limited to - PLEASE SUGGEST ANYTHING: 2012 LibTech Burtner Box Scratcher 2012 LibTech TRS C2 BTX 2012/13 Never Summer Proto CT 2012 Never Summer Evo 2012 Never Summer Revolver 2012 GNU Park Pickle BTX 2012 GNU Rider's Choice Pickle Please criticize, give me input, whatever it takes to get me the best setup for this 2012-13 season 'cuz I'm BLEEDING FOR IT!!!! Thanks!!! and looking forward to some convo....... hopefully. :) |

the simple answer is yes... you're asking too much.
all of those boards will do some of the things in your list well... not 1 will do all of them well. Look into Signal Omni... or the Rossignol Amptek lineup, they use hybrid camber rocker with the magne-traction. |

Why not demo? This way you can figure out what you like. Boards tend to change up after 3 seasons, so there may be something out there that works for you that you wouldn't have considered otherwise. I'm sure Northstar and Heavenly have no shortage of demos!

I second that. Wait for a demo day. You can try several boards - for free!!

I think I've only seen Burton demo days at northstar during mid season, I'm not sure. about heavenly. I'll look into it.
I wanna try something similar but different fRom a sierra RC. Something more playful, but can damp enough to not wash out.. esp on jumps. |

You've listed some prime boards. To be honest, any of them will work for you, but each will standout in it's own capacity. It really is a matter of getting in tune with your boards shape and flex- then practice, practice, practice. Get as much slope time in and as many runs/laps in, and you'll progress regardless of which board you choose. Most the boards listed are rocker or hybrid, and have magnetraction, so you should be good for the ice, pow, and decreased edge catching you're looking for.

It looks to me that you want a nice all mountain board. I'd recommend you buy a reverse cambered board because it would really help you float through the powder and you could also take it to the park and hit some jibs. I've rode the Burton Hero and I loved it and I've also heard great things about the Ride Machete as well.

Thinking would about this some more, I'd rather have a little softer board so that eliminate, would like to ride between 151-153, and lastly, graphics (why not love every bit of my board if I'm spending alotta $$ on it):
2012 LibTech TRS C2 BTX, flex 5-7 and 154 is the smallest (i think?) 2012 GNU Park Pickle BTX, flex 6 2012 GNU Rider's Choice Pickle (jean graphics- not diggin' it) |

I say do not even paying attention to the graphics... U can always slap a bunch of stickers on it and 'make it your own'.
Yeah, it's nice to have cool graphics.... But, graphics don't help you have more fun or ride better. A good board that performs the way you want it to does help w/ fun and riding better (or riding the way you want). So, I wouldn't rule out the rider's choice because you don't like the graphics. Just my 2 cents |

You are probably right. But if I could choose a board with graphics I like vs another one not so much-- at the same performance level? Why not be as happy as I can be.. right? Well, unless the Rider's choice would be ideal for me- I wouldn't go for it. Personally. But please reason with me
. I like all kinds of feedback. Fire away! Please do.

I think rider's choice of all of those would suit you best fugly graphics or not, I have one it's an awesome board fun flexy enough to play around on with ease but still handles pretty decent speed and aggressive riding.

'sides the rider's choice, what about the other boards I have on my list? I've seen great reviews and other topics raving about the proto for the true freestyle/mountain ride.

the proto ct is a nice board very similar to the riders choice. I just like magna traction a lot and even though the mtx on the riders choice is pretty mellow it's nice to have in the middle of the board gets a little better grip on things.

I vote Proto. Too bad you don't like the Rider's Choice graphics, but I wouldn't want to ride something that I'm not into. |

or you could always just get a different year riders choice just get one c2btx. I have the 2011 I didn't like the graphics at first pretty much hated them but the board is amazing and I don't even think about the graphics anymore, another plus is I can throw stickers on it without being bummed about ruining nice looking board.

OK, Proto vs RC grip! Besides the 7 bumps of the MTX- that's just tech, but what's the real diff between that and what the proto has?

I've been on my Nitro rook for a while now and I think it is a great everyday board, which is what it seems like you're looking for. Its flat camber does well on jumps and jibs alike. I ride the mid size 25-40 ft kickers a lot, but got a lot more into rails and boxes last year; I have only complements about the board. It is also holding up well considering the rail beatings it takes at Bear Mountain. Certainly a good option as far as I'm concerned, and should hold an edge slightly better than most reverse cambers.
