Just curious about how much gear people own in general. With the super sales, blems, close outs and super deals from when Sierra had 70% off plus member discounts (ah remember those days?).
I've got 2011 custom 148 2011.5 custom fly v 154 2010 troop 158 2008 custom x 147 2005 uninc JP solberg Ed 154 2012 btx libtech 161w 2012 step child jib stick 143 2009 custom 156 2008 troop 154 2003 burton charger 159 (my first board) 2011 co2 est 2011 c60 est 2012 diode 2010 cartel 2009 escapade 2011 mission est 2011 cartel est 2010 ion 2007 driver x 2009 driver x 2010 driver x 5 goggles 3 pants 2 jackets |

Holy moly, 10 boards? How many days a year do you ride. That's a lot. I have two boards and have to flip my binding back and forth depending on which board I ride.
And what's a job stick? Sounds like something gross from Urban Dictionary

I had like 8 or something and gave a few away, donating two more this weekend. I mean how many do you REALLY need?
It is hard for me not to give them to other people that want to ride but don't have the money for gear or whatever the circumstance may be. I've won/been given new gear, why not pay it forward. To answer your question though. ns evo 303 ns evo ss rc (donating) salomon mandate (donating) palmer classic

yes i like ladies boards better, just because theyre narrower, but i havent found deals on the feelgood lately. im really loving my 148 custom (paid 95 shipped used) and 2011.5 154 custom fly v (paid 65 shipped used, looks like prev owner put it in a rooftop and cracked the top sheet at the tail where it starts rising).
i never keep my gear very long because i buy used and resell (on ebay) after trying them out. ex: got 2012 diodes for 85 shipped because the highback was cracked. called burton and they replaced it for free - how much ya think those will go for? ive ridden 150-200 boards since i stared selling in 07. buy em use em once and resell for a profit. not bad ehh? so yeah i prefer womens boards - ive ridden a lot to get to know minor differences. dont knock it till ya try it. |

i try to keep it to what i actually use, no extra stuff lying around unless there's a reason
2012 jones hovercraft split 56 2009 burton fish LTD 56 2012 capita charlie 58 2012 capita charlie 54 (got it for zoe's ak trips, and a loaner pow board for lady friends) 2013 burton cheetah 59 2012 capita outdoor 56 2003 k2 parka 55 (travis is a favorite of mine and it popped up brand new on ebay.. rides awesome) 2013 rome butterknife 55 prototype (tested last year, now just sitting) 2013 rome crossrocket 58 (supposed to test this year) 2012 holden woods jacket 2012 holden mcmillan jacket 2012 holden millicent pant other random stuff lying around 2011 union force team 2012 union atlas team 2012 spark blaze then i have a bunch of goggles companies sent me to test, and various base layers/gloves/whatever picked up the cheetah for this year. may be replacing the outdoor camber with the 2013 DWD kwon 56 camber. also picking up the new airblaster k2 happy hour 59 for my all around deck. for binders, i don't know yet. probably picking up the new union chargers. also will get the holden altitude jacket and wittlake bibs. picked up the new blue nike ZF1 boots as well. this makes it look like i have way more gear than it seems when i look around my room.

I counted 13 boards, 12 pair of binders, and 10 pair of boots in the garage earlier. In fairness not all of those are mine. I've got a few of my buddies boards laying around, plus the wife has 3 complete setups. We've also got more googles, helmets, and other protective gear laying around than two people need. When friends that have never rode before show interest I usually have everything they'll need to go out for their first few times.

i don't really like to bring it up, but the honest answer is that i don't have to pay for most of it. i only have two of the things i'm getting for this year so far. i guess i decided not to get that much though. waiting on two boards, another set of binders, and then outerwear. i guess goggles too.

Side/backcountry in Wrightwood... doesn't breathe anywhere near enough... as for waterproofness... it's ok... but if you sweat at all, you're done. My Mountain hardwear kit this year is my new backcountry kit. It breathes & waterproof both @ 40k. Also don't need to create a microclimate it breathes actively. |

Ive got relatively nothing.
Boards: 164 2011 Charlie Slasher. 155 2011 Bataleon Riot (too small, im too fat, its getting sold soon as someone buys it). 156 2010 Sierrascope. Bindings: 2010 Union Forces. Boots: 2011 Nike zoom 1 forces. The boots and bindings feel like theyre coming to the end of their natural life. My quiver isnt quite right either since the riot was supposed to take up the middle space but it just didnt work out. So in its place is likely to be a berzerker as soon as i get some cash. I also want to try no backing in the pow so probably going to pick up some switchbacks. |

doesnt a no-back binding still have some back to it. Like a super super lowback. I thought thats how they designed it? Then theres the ease of shifting in and out as well.

no back means no back. you're thinking of lowbacks.
switchbacks still have a full size highback, but yeah the binding is tool free and easier to switch out i'm sure, but it's also very easy to take the highback off any other binding.

nah i mean those things look way higher than my forces would be if i took off the highback off them is all (then again it might just be im not used to seeing bindings without their highbacks so it looks higher). Also that padding piece kinda replaces the extra space that youd get if you took your highbacks off direct. Obviously not having taken them off i cant say how that affects the feel, but i can only assume youd feel a bit more spacious, a little less comfortable, and a little less responsive?... not even accounting for the lack of a highback. Cant really say whether itd be a good or a bad thing to be honest though. So maybe ill test the theory out sometime this season :)

wouldn't have guessed wrightwood even got enough natural snow for much backcountry...from what I've seen, maybe a couple days a year after the rare dump, if you're lucky I sweat plenty and have no problems in my 686. So I have to layer a little bit...bfd. To each his own, but I'd feel like overkill $helling out for 40k when my 20k Plexus ($99) works fine in this area...never have liked Columbia/mtn hardware styling anyway. |
