Burton Joystick vs. Process Flying V

Hey guys,

Thinking of getting a new board this season. Right now I'm on a 2008 custom 156, which rips, but I wanna try my hand at some kind of rockered board. I mainly ride park/groomers, because I am usually at big bear (almost never ever pow). However, when I am able to make the occasional trip up north, if there is powder I spend all day in it. Now the custom shreds the socal groomers and slush, but in the pow it sunk and felt pretty small and unstable.

My dilemma is that I am 5'11 3/4" 170lbs and wear a size 9-10 boot. I don't need a wide board, but the biggest normal width joystick is 157. The process flying v comes in a 57 and 59. So as you can see, I'm kind of stuck in the middle as far as sizes go.

Basically, I'll be in the park most of the time, but when there is is powder I wanna be able to rip it all mountain.
Some opinions, personal experience would be much appreciated.

Apology in advance since I don't have these boards -- but I'm bored and will give you the satisfaction of my two cents.  My understanding is the Joystick is a little higher quality board with more tech (should have more pop) and I think it has slight spoon tips.  I'm not sure if it's a China board but I actually think they pressed those in the Austria facility.  It's also a v-rocker.  The process FV has less tech, will probably not be as damp or have as much pop.  But it's still nice.  I believe this is a china board with similar construction to my wife's sierra reverse crew, although FV is not as loose as the straight-up v-rocker (similar profile to my T Rice board). 

Yeah, I also agree that the Burton Joystick would be better. Like what bryman and Alkasqawlik said, the joystick is higher quality and works good when riding park or powder.

Gunna put my almost literal two cents in here and say go with the 157 . You also said you didn't need a wide board and you said you ride park majority of the time so that should kinda answer itself. I'm pretty much exactly the same height and weight as you and i rode a 159 reverse camber last year which was great for the pow, which was what I was riding the majority of the time in Whistler but I found it too long for the Park which is why I've gone for a 157 this year, just to try and see how that goes.

well either way, from my experience, rocker is less stable either way.. or maybe it is just the shape i had. Only thing l can contribute :P

I owned the Custom V and the Joystick and didnt notice much of a diff between the two, plus the CV is an older model, so might as well rule it out. For your size 9-10 boots, stay with the reg version, which is already a mid wide, instead of jumping up to the bigger mid wide(or as B calls it-wide). The PFV and Joystick are gonna feel pretty similar. Ya the Process is FV vs the Joystick V, but I think the diff between the two will kind of even out. The PFV is soft, but has FV and jumper cables. The Joystick is V, but has the added ibeam and hi voltage jumper cables. Overall they are going to "feel" pretty similar. Personally I like the value of the PFV, with the smooth ride, it seems like you get a lot out of a $420 compared to many other boards in Bs lineup.

Re sizes: It really depends where and how you ride. Your size will allow you to ride many diff sizes of these boards. The rocker shape will help with pow, depending on how often you get pow days. If youre at a smaller mtn, you can even go to a smaller size 54J/55PFV, if you wanted.
