The wet boots and clothing from spring snowboarding did a number on my car last year. I'm considering purchasing the digital fit mats and rear mat from Weather Tech. They have channels to catch drips and run them out over the side. Costco has some rubber mats that are cut to fit but have some pretty deep channels to catch water. They don't cover as well but are a lot cheaper.
How do you protect your car from your outdoor activities? Salt water from boating and kiteboarding is another consideration. I might go for a rubber/vinyl floor like the Element on my next vehicle.

Those custom fit Weather Tech floor mats/floor liners are nice but pricey. I had a generic version of them at one time in one of my cars. They were those rubber mats with the channels.
But the custom fit ones are way better. Have you considered just buying a tarp in the mean time? And maybe a hockey or a baseball equipment bag to throw all your wet gear in?

Some vehicles are prepared for your lifestyle by having no fabric at all in the luggage area or floor (Jeep Compass, Honda Element, Toyota FJ come to mind). I'd have just used a roof- or hitch-mounted Thule box to put anything that I don't want on the fabric in the car. I'm thinking a full, form-fitting vinyl tub for your luggage compartment is the only way to go for total protection..

^ Thats a good idea. Buy one of those large Rubber Made storage bins for the trunk. You could even cut it to size if it is too tall to fit in the trunk area.

I usually just use a folded tarp and a couple towels. They stay in there the whole season and get pretty funky, but it keeps my trunk from getting too filthy.

You could also lounge in front of the fire with post-riding drinks until you're dry!

Weathertechs are one of the best interior investments to a vehicle you can make.

Have you looked into the OEM weather mats? I got a honda crv and they came with mine--not great for dripping water to the side but they'll protect the carpet and wont stink up your car!
