we've had a few dustings so far and it's sticking up higher, probably above 5k feet. the lowest i'm aware of so far is just below 4k that hit overnight at the beginning of the month. we are at sea level so it's got a little ways to go before it hits the streets.

It's going to hit 85* in Atlanta by Thursday....nothing near snow here yet. NC had its first frost warnings this week (while I've been gone) which is fantastic! :D

Yea we had to hit 10k for snow here. I was working last night and I came out and it was raining. I thought I sure hope it is snowing at snowbird right now.
Time to waxes my board and watch a boarding movie. Maybe I need to wait until it makes it down to the valley.

Isn't early snow considered a bad omen? I remember Tahoe getting a snowstorm last Fall and then nada.

The only snow I've seen so far was the stuff at the rail jam, but that was ice rink stuff, so it doesn't really count.

From TahoeWeatherDiscussion:
For now I’m sticking with my forecast of 75%-85% of average snowfall with an early start to the cold and snow and then a more even spread out Winter. First flakes fell at CA resorts yesterday. Gotta love it!

Yeah, most of the Lake Tahoe resorts got a few inches of snow last night and hopefully will get a few more tonight. :) Isn't this thread similar to the Who's got snow in their resorts? |

Yeah that trail looks ridable to me, too! Seeing this snowmaking process makes me super excited for snowboarding. I can't wait until winter. According to the forecast, there won't be a chance of snow in Lake Tahoe this entire week. :( |

If WI would just get cold we would have so much. I think in the last week we have had 5+ inches of rain... Which is how much snow... A LOT.

I don't know if it's already been mentioned anywhere in the forums, but Squaw Valley is opening one small run this Thursday, 10/25, for a charity fundraiser. Only $20, but only Searchlight will be open. Expect a Disneyland-long line!

Local PNW resorts are reporting 8"-16" so far, some more expected for the rest of the week.
According to some, we will be having a "Neutral El Nino" year this winter. This means bigger storms and colder weather. If this is true, we should all be looking forward to a great season ahead! |

Woke up to 1/2 inch on the lawn, deck and such here, but the mountains didn't get any of it.
^^ - I'm woried about the weak El Nino for me, because real El Nino = no snow for my neck of the woods! La Nina is the best for us here. Bascially, the worse the tahoe are is, the better south central Montana is. Mas o Menos I guess.

Drove home thru a snow shower. It slowed traffic to 45mph, but it made for a very pretty drive. Sadly, I just looked at the long range forecast and there's a chance of rain in the Sierra on Monday, with snow levels rising to 7500+, so a lot of that pretty snow is in peril of being washed away.
