I just wanted to see what people had to say about either board. I rode the Slayblade a few seasons back and really liked it but I always wanted to ride the old K2 Believer New Happy Hour.

Please let me know what you thing of either board

i love the happy hour.  had the 57 last year and got the 59 this year.  such a fun board.  rails carves, super poppy, super lively, and a super smooth ride.  can't think of a thing i would change.

i wrote a lot more about it here

the slayblade is a stiffer/more aggressive ride.  happy hour is a solid medium.  both great all-mountain boards.

Spenser, glad you chimed in! I have read you review in easyloungin and is one of the reasons I am considering the Happy Hour. Does the pointed tips effect the way it rides?

doesn't affect the ride at all, unless making it more fun counts.

Just asking because when I had an older Gnu Rider's Choice the said the blunted tips would make it rude different. I didn't feel it
Thanks for the info guys

i have not but that was the second board from k2 i was considering.  they don't give any stiffness ratings which is annoying, but my understanding is that it might be slightly stiffer?  maybe?  or it's pretty similar.  i can't tell by the way people talk about it.

the rocker on that one starts WAY out by the contact points.  i have another k2 with the same rocker and the board looks almost identical to a totally flat board.

the bamboo core is one of the things that made me want to try the fastplant, and i love the don pendleton graphic... been skating my whole life so art like that is nostalgic i guess.

it seems like a dude like ben lynch rides the HH and fastplant interchangeably, so maybe that means they work really well for the same types of riding.

That is what I was thinking but previous to seeing last seasons fastplant I thought it was rocker through out.
I do love the graphics!
I guess I will either have to bite the bullet or find a demo somewhere close.

Thanks for the info spenser

^ woodhomie - you can find last year's Happy Hour at decent prices ($250 or lower) online, what size are you looking for?

Holy hell, never mind... the site I have been watching sold all of their 2012 stock:

They had the 157cm Happy Hour for $230.

Would like a 154 but 157 would work, thanks for looking out!

I haven't totally decided what I want. I have a 2013 Drake DF2 (rocker between the feet and camber under bindings)just waiting in my basement. But I love the ride of a flat board so I am just keeping my options open.

Some shop was selling 154, 157 and 159cm Happy Hours for $239 on eBay, I e-mailed the shop and they were willing to go $215 shipped.  Should have pulled the trigger because those are all gone now.

So I came across a 2012 154cm Happy Hour at a local shop for 50% off... I felt compelled to buy it so I did.  They had two 154cm and two 157cm in stock for $229.99.  Not a bad price.
