Day 7 was work.  The resort (mt. rose) was closed, the backcountry access (tamarack) across the way was practically like a resort there were so many people over there.  I basically had to make my own parking spot because the access lot was completely filled.  Even though it was nuking and like 45+ mph winds (which is why they didn't turn the lifts).  My wife, my friend brian + his dog derby and I cruised up for what we knew would be some heavy powder turns (it was raining up to about 7500' at the time) and whoa, it was shtooking deep.  Slashed a few runs and got out of there, I'm kind of beat.  There were some protected areas but it was mostly like being sandblasted especially on the ridges going toward the summit, totally worth it though.
It was nice to get back on my t.rice split, that thing killed it today.  I didn't get any actual snow pictures but I kind of like this photo of our wet gear pile

Messy

I'm not sure what the pineapple express is going to bring us tonight and tomorrow but I think there might be less precip than expected, if it goes out cold Tahoe could still set up nice for monday.  Think snow

Made it out to Keystone for my 4th day today but rushed home at 2pm to study.

Pretty sweet day, not too crowded. Plenty of runs open. Snow quality was icy and grainy at some spots but still good. A51 Terrain Park is up and running with some jumps/rails! No flat boxes.

I still can't believe it's December already....there should be more snow and coverage.

Those are some nice shots on day 9 Spenser. with the sun beaming in on the backdrop.. grey skies? common you can't beat that unless its grey and fluffy stuff is falling.

So lucky you all have snow and enjoying it, no coverage here so don't complain mluu hahaha

First day out, woke up at 5 to make the treck up to Vermont and Mount Snow. It was in the 40's at the summit so definitely some nice softer snow all over. Only about 4 or so different ways down but first day you can't complain.

We were gonna head over to cannon today, but looked at the report. 5 runs 3 lifts, and 44 degrees and raining... yeah not worth the 20 bucks in gas... maybe next weekend or later this week i will bang out my first REAL season...
It comes and it goes, get it while it lasts.

I envy all of you with snow right now. Looked like we were getting into the swing of things with some cooler temps and a little snow here and there, but it warmed way up and the forecast for the next 10 days does not look promising.

^^^ must be nice scorer!  Sweet little bluebird pow day at Mt. Rose today for my day 8.  Very nice.  And I charged all morning on my skierra bluebird, I really like that board paired with my co2's.  Anyway, thank you someone for giving us some pow at the resort after that incredible rainstorm

day 13, splitting.  holy moly there is a lot of snow.  seems like there's about 2 feet more than two days ago when i last went.  looks like we got about a foot at sea level too.  god damn.  i don't know what our base is, but it's deep.

Holy crap. Spenser, that looks amazing! It's what I imagine heaven looks like hahah.

While you're getting hammered with snow...resorts in Southern California couldn't maintain the snow they had made and were forced to temporarily close! Resorts in Colorado also have limited coverage.

I just want ONE day like that. Enjoy it for us!

it was almost too much snow... but don't tell anyone i said that.  the plus side of "too much snow" is that all it means is you have to find the steeper lines... which is the best part anyway.  can't wait for tomorrow.

couple more.  noe on her way up, and jeremy crushing pillows toward the bottom.

haha thanks dudes.  sometimes i feel bad when it's like this and others are still waiting, but i can't help sharing.

also, this is from saturday when they had the bunnyhill open.  the title is because this is what I imagine a midwest pow day to be like.  mostly messed around on this little run with a few tiny bumps to play on.  you pretty much have to point it to carry enough speed to do anything, but it's sort of fun that way sometimes.

rode the new DWD kwon as well.  really fun.  they accidentally sent me the 53 instead of 56, but i decided to roll with it, and i'm kinda glad i did.  it's fun for stuff like this, but can also hold its own on the actual mountain since it's a medium flex and full camber.  i wouldn't ride it in fresh snow beyond this, but it's a real fun mess-around board.  felt really poppy.  fun for nollies.

Spenser, which DaKine pack is that? Is it one of the photog bags? Only reason I ask is because I bought the Heli Pack for my lil bro for Xmas and want to know what your thoughts are on it

the one where i'm "skiing" is a regular heli pro.  i also have a pro 2, and it's great, but i decided it's more than i needed for daily trips (mainly the slightly larger size). i don't like riding with a pack, but after getting the regular heli pro, it's been great.  it's lighter than the pro 2, fits all my stuff easily, has a smaller surface area, etc etc etc.

the pack jeremy has that looks big is the reload, which is the largest photo bag they make.  pretty heavy when it's loaded, but about as good as it gets when you have a lot of photo gear.  i have the sequence which is the middle size and i like it, but haven't ridden with it.

I went for the first day of the season the other day at my local resort, my upper legs are sore as hell. Must have been slacking this summer/fall with exercising because I didn't have this problem last year. Still waiting for more coverage (and finals to be over) for steady riding.

i would have done more, but i made that from a video clip, and since he's coming at me, you can't really fit many frames in there compared to someone passing horizontally through the screen.

we're supposed to get around 8" down here in CA the next 2 days...but the base is only about a foot deep at our resort, so I'm not ultra motivated to go up.

plan on going surfing this weekend - it would be cool if it snows again real good on tuesday and I can get the rare surf/snow sessions both in the same week (if not the same day).  I don't really care if it's surf or snow, as long as I get my groove on

we're supposed to get around 8" down here in CA the next 2 days...but the base is only about a foot deep at our resort, so I'm not ultra motivated to go up.

plan on going surfing this weekend - it would be cool if it snows again real good on tuesday and I can get the rare surf/snow sessions both in the same week (if not the same day).  I don't really care if it's surf or snow, as long as I get my groove on

I'm in San Diego this weekend for a concert and am bound and determined to hit up a Sunday a.m. dawn patrol at mission or OB -- come down that way pirhana?

no, I'm surfing the closest spots to my house here on the central coast.

I used to surf OB occasionally in the late 90s.  There's a couple good spots: the lefts off the pier, the jetty and a couple sand bars in between.  The pier is doable, but I don't recommend paddling out at the OB jetty...the locals won't let you get a wave; especially on a crowded weekend.

Haven't surfed mission - I hear it's mellower than OB, but I probably still wouldn't waste my time paddling out by their jetty, either.
