Hey Guys....

Wondered if anyone has any experience taking pets along to resort ski areas.  If so, where did you stay, and what kind of pet amenities were offered?

I'll start off with my Home mountain of Killington.

The Chalet at Killington is very dog friendly.  Not only do they allow you to bring dogs to the hotel, but they also offer a walking service while you ride.  If your pup gets lonely, they'll let her/him hang out in the lodge area during the day.  There's also a fenced in area behind the hotel for obvious reasons....  No more splitting before the lifts stop to take the pooch for a pee.  The guys at the chalet are on it!

Don't expect 5 star rooms, it's a pet friendly ski lodge...  Common areas are great, rooms are a B- to a C+.  Some people say rooms can smell a little like dog, but in my world, that's a ton better than smelling like my riding boots.  They could use some improvement, but

Couldnt find a dedicated website for them... so here's the tripadvisor.com write-up on it.

http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g57302-d276167-Reviews-Chalet_Killington-Killington_Vermont.html

You'll have to excuse me if this thread is already out there... I did search for it, probably could have searched more... but whatever.  Looking forward to hearing of other spots to bring the pup.

http://dogfriendly.com

I don't know anything about Killington, so can't offer any advice specifically.  I've taken my dog to Tahoe with me many times, but always with a family member who could look after her while I'm on the slopes.

If traveling with your dog, the website above is excellent.  It's a user-generated collection of hotels, parks, restaurants, and other attractions that allow dogs.

^ Great suggestion..... I found the Chalet thru word of mouth at K.  I was hoping to find a few spots at other mountains, so no worries about having intel on K or not.

I use http://www.bringfido.com as well to try to find places to bring the pup.... but nothing beats insider information!

Thanks SV!

Ok, if any of those other mountains you're considering are at Tahoe, the site above is another good resource.  I do find that dog-friendly hotels really vary in quality.  Nothing worse than walking in and smelling the previous dog guest!

Harveys/Harrah's in South Lake Tahoe have pet friendly rooms.  Plus you can get your gamble on!

Thanks for the share!  Most places are no pets allowed whenever I'm searching around for lodging so this helps.

^ Agree with Angry Midget.

I know of several places here in RI down by the ocean that allow pets, but in no way do they advertise it.  Hence starting this thread.

Any other east coasters have inside info for us pet owners?

^Yeah, Tahoe Inn is pet-friendly. Also, Best Western and La Quinta are also pet-friendly hotels. Most ski resorts allow dogs but I'm not sure about whether they have rooms that you could stay in overnight.

Resorts with doggie daycare would bank providing that service.  I know so many dog owners that don't want to part with the pooch for a few days or just can't find someone good to take care of them for them.
Wonder if I can find a pet friendly resort in the midwest so my coon can come with me on tripsBig smile

I agree that this service would make a killing.... even on a more simple level.... just a decent dog sitting/daycare service NEAR a mountain would probably make a killing.  I know I'd take advantage of it during a ski day.....

I guess he could unless they have a list of banned pets you're not allowed to bring.  LOL

I know N* is pet friendly but only The Ritz Carlton allows pet lodging in the Resort. Also, The Sports Chalet down the street from N* is pet friendly as well.

That's pretty insane. Best I've seen is that they won't freak out at the Inn when you bring your dog to a particular room.
