I have been skating for years and can pop a 2ft Ollie pretty easily but when I transfer over to a snowboard the results are nowhere near the same. Is there anything different I need to do on my snowboard I need to do to get better results

For real?  Seems like you would be killing it on a snowboard.  Start with lifting your front leg, getting a big bend in the back of your board and spring that thing to get you up in the air.  The part of the board that needs to bend is behind your back foot (as opposed to between your feets which I assume is what you're doing on board, although I can never get those things to work right).

Go get em boss

Really? wow. I'm positive you'll get it really quickly and you're snowboard ollies/nollies will be spectacular.

I had the hardest time learning how to ollie on a skateboard...and at best, I still suck. But ollies on a snowboard came natural to me.

it's similar to a skateboard ollie in that it's a quick snap from the tail, but you don't actually "lean back" to flex the tail, just like you don't actually "lean back" on a skateboard.. but it's different because it's not really about pressing the tail down, since it's already on the snow.

you know how it works in general, so the real answer is just to practice.  it should come naturally.  any little hit you go off, it should be your instinct to pop from it instead of just absorbing the jump like most new people tend to do.  keep trying and you'll figure it out.

The biggest thing for me was to really get a good pop off the tail and automatically move into sucking my knees up. If you can ollie 2ft on a skateboard, this should come pretty naturally to you. I had a hard time adjusting my ollie from skating to snowboarding because of the bindings and not being able to move my feet, but it was something that worked itself out in time.

yeah i've been riding nothing but park for five years and this summer at hcsc was the first time I had ever even heard of ollies on a snowboard, always just naturally did it. I can't do an ollie on a skateboard for my life, so i'm sure you'll be fine with just a little practice my man.

Hmmm that's interesting.
I've skated for 6 years and I ollied over 4 boards stacked up, but on a snowboard it is a lot harder for me too!
I think its just the muscle memories freaking out and not working 100% properly with the transition from skating to snowboarding. I will work on it this up coming season and get back to you guys how it goes.

Treat your board like a leaf spring (fundamentally, that's what it is) and you'll be able to manipulate it more comfortably. Because the energy you put into the board will always get released afterwards, putting your weight into the tail will rebound when you back off or use it to pop up for an ollie.

I think it is muscle memory.  When I was young and skating all the time I could ollie a wagon.  I didn't skate for a long time when I started snowboarding.  I couldn't ollie that well at first, but over time I've gotten better at it and do ok.  Fast forward a few seasons, I started trying to skate again in the summer to keep me standing sideways all year.  I can't ollie for shit on a skateboard now, but of course I don't skate nearly enough.  I think if I skated 3 days a week (and lost a bunch of weight) I could get some decent ones down.

Sorry, that had nothing to do with how you can ollie on snow better, but the thread got me thinking about my own ollie issues.

This is why smart attorneys always invoke the MUF method (money up front).  Good luck lux
