The waist is about 4-6 inches too big and I step on them a bit, I put a belt on it but im still standing a bit on the pants and the front part of the pant at the bottom is close to the top of the boot. Problem is everywhere i look they're sizes are small and thats what i bought. Should i return them and look elsewhere?

If you're going to buy pants online, you have to use a tailors tape and measure your waist/inseam, then follow the manufacturers size chart.

What brand are they? Are you saying all size smalls are too big?
If size small is still 4-6 inches too big for your waist i suggest looking at the youth section... |

ahhh that explains it all... try another brand, foursquare is notorious for oversizing. my boyfriend had a pair of pants from them in size small but they fit like xl's.
checkout some 686, Analog or Burton... they usually run true to size. Burton even has regular and short lengths.

A Foursquare size S pants can be used as a sleeping bag/blanket for two people or a couple.

Sorry you had bad luck with the fit of your pants. But as others have said, unfortunately fitment can vary a great deal from company to company. Even within the brand sometimes.
That's why, if you noticed in the TruSnow reviews, it has a "size" and "fits like" categorie. Some smalls fit like mediums. Some mediums seem small etc. I always read as many reviews as I can find on something that I am interested in. You will see a pattern of the way something fits. Don't forget, another option is to go to a shop near you and try on a bunch of pants to find the best fit. Then, you can go online and try to find the best price available. And if you find that your local shop is pretty close to the price you find online, you can just buy it from your local shop. |

Definitely over sized! I bought a burton field jacket as well S sig fit, it does feel a little big but with a jacket inside it feels good. Should i look at burton pants then because i bought a burton jacket? or should i mix and match and try to find whatever fits best at the best price?

I'd say find what fit you best. Good example, I just recently bought the Burton Notch jacket size small. It was a bit loose on me but nothing laying can't fix. The jacket is super long, past my butt cheeks and I'm 5'6. Buying online is dangerous, but if I get it for a super great deal, I wouldn't hesitate. Yeah, i got my Notch for a super deal

I don't like my pants dragging on the ground either .Maybe check out the burton cargo pant that now comes in a short length . I bought them in the short and love em. They aren't super short though and just barely touch the ground when walking on a flat surface with boots on and are 2 inches shorter in the inseam of the regular sizing .

I have to agree that snowboarding apparel are running big in general, compare to normal clothings.
@Tony: i dont know what is your height and weight, but if size S is WAY WAY too big, you should start looking into youth section, because although certain brand runs bigger, but it's all around the same ballpark. |

Belt it up and roll your pants up when walking around, thats what I've always done. I usually wear pants 1 or 2 sizes larger than when I actually fit in.
Anyways, snowboarding outerwear is and has always been sized larger than normal street clothes, even the slimmer fitting stuff. Snowboard outerwear is meant to be worn bigger, in most cases.

If you're lucky, you might be able to find a xs.
Or get a pair of women's. No one will be able to tell. |

Most new pants today have velcro straps inside the waistline to adjust the width, have you tried that? I mean, if you can still return them, then that's probably the best thing to do, but if you really like them, then suspenders can also work.
I think everyone will step on their pants at some point or other, I do all the time, I actually get L even though I'm normally a S or M. I like my pants baggy. Some pants (my Burton AK) also have in-leg snap-on straps that will lift up the back edge of your pant leg. They really work! |

Let me know how does it fit when you get them. My burton poacher Small pants feels a bit too baggy I might consider picking up xs in the future or slim fit. |

I have a tailor who works wonders on trousers. I'm sure the waist and bagginess could be modified on snow pants just as easily. Length though is probably unalterable since snow pants usually have special cuffs. Cost is around $35.
