I am heading out on a trip next week Jan 1, just wondering if anyone had reports. We are looking at going to Jackson Hole and Grand Targee. Doesn't look like we are going to get too much fresh pow on the trip, so will need to find some left overs from the past storms.

That's often the story out there. Make sure and stop by Grand Teton brewery on the way back from (or to) Targhee and drink a few brews, that place is classic

Watch out for the idaho fuzz.. will pull you over for no reason especially if they can tell you aren't mormon. Have a DD. As far as weather goes.. i trust those people about as far as i can throw them so hopefully they are wrong like normal and you guys will get an epic dump. Targhee usually gets more snow than Jackson...but when Jackson gets it...whooooooaaa buddy! My favorite place by far. Enjoy! |

I live in Jackson Hole. 16 feet of snow since we opened on 11-24. 100% open. Saratoga Bowl is still rocky, I would give it another couple of feet for it to be nice. Take the tram and hike out --best lines there. Thai me Up in town for awesome food and good beers. Pinky Gs and The Rose for late night. Pearl Street Bagels in town for tasty bagels, pro rated espresso, and sassy women. VC for apre in the village. More expert riding in Jackson Hole. More snow but mostly intermediate at Targhee. Watch for the Mormons in Driggs ;) Also hike Glory Bowl if you can, it's off the pass.

Oh and also, it's not a common story for not having fresh pow. It snowed EVERY SINGLE DAY in Dec. until about 4-5 days ago. 16 feet since late Nov. is pretty sweet.. and it's lightly snowing right now as I look out my window...

Oh and also, I know the sheriff of Victor (next to Driggs, first ID town you hit leaving WY off the pass) and he's not mormon and he's a really chill guy. That mormon stuff I was joking about.. more twenty somethings have moved there and it had it's own scene as well. 10 years ago I heard it was a lot different, but they have a few good bars and restaurants. Plus I read that Driggs was ranked in the top ten places to live being an outdoor enthusiast. Kinda cool. I'd be more worried about getting picked up for public intoxication in downtown Jackson. Jackson cops loooooove that.

Actually THIS is even closer to the story as I remember -- if you go to JH on a trip and the weather's not great, the locals will tell you how much snow they got when you weren't around. And how awesome of a place it is when you're not there . . . . -b
