cheap snowboard recommendations-

   hey guys, last year was my first season, but since i'm planning on going often, i wanted to ask for a recommendation on cheap boards for beginners... i dont plan on doing anything too crazy or going real fast, and i'd prefer if it were under $200... so any ideas??

I'm actually thinking about getting one since the price is soooo good right now. Your other option is on of the many cheaper boards like an ltd, liquid, morrow, etc. The first board I used was a Liquid, my big feet made me go wide the next season and I ended up on a House board for a few seasons (learned alot on it). I do wish that I would have got a better board off the git though because the difference between a House and a Ride, Burton, Rome, etc is amazing.

	or an REI used gear sale if you have one nearby you. my friend bought a a whole setup for under $100. boots, board, and bindings

	I bought the Sierra Team board last year and I have to say it's probably so much better than what you're paying. I was riding a K2 board that I got at REI for it's end of season sale. It rode well, but at the same price as the Sierra Team, it wasn't even close.

	yeah i'm considering sierra, they're cheap and the reviews seem pretty good. i have a jackass friend that bashes on anything not burton or salomon, so i think i'm gonna get Sierra just to shtook with him. and besides... i have a used burton i bought, and it looks like it gets scratched up real easy...

	oh and btw, i had a sizing question... i'm 6' 165lbs, but my board is 158. is that the right size?

	can look for previous season gear too. some pretty good deals pop up once in a while.

	in general, if you want a board now, brand new, its going to be 200+ but if you wait till off season, june+, you can get coupons and get heafty discounts from alot of sites

	Anywhere close to 158 will work. Tell your friend that the Sierra Reverse Crew and the Stunt is based on Burton boards. Haven't a strong opinion is fine, but limiting to only Burton and Salomon. Your friend have lots to learn still. REI will have used and/or demo gear soon. They should. Good luck. Have fun shopping.

	O check craigslist often. You'll might come up on something good for a good price. Even check outside your area and ask the seller to ship it. eBay is great too. I got a brand new Signal Vita Rocker (same as Park Rocker but a female version) for $200. If there's other local shops around you, check to see if they got used/demo gear. If female boards fits you, they are usually cheaper compare to the male counterpart and might be at a greater discount as well. Good luck

	I too recommend craigslist and check often and do NOT be afraid to haggle prices. They are almost always listed for much higher than what the seller is willing to let it go for. That's just the nature of the site. If they're selling anything older than 1 year, then you should be paying less than 50% of original retail price, especially if they're used. Why? Because last season's models are always 40-70% off their following season. When they say "brand new" or "never used" , take that with a grain of salt. Always inspect closely when you see the items, quite often you can haggle even more at that point if you're unsatisfied. You'll likely find complete board, bindings, boots sets for relatively cheap. Most of the time, you get what you pay for... sometimes you get lucky. Personally, I would suggest you spend a bit more after doing A LOT of research to avoid wanting to sell it all once you've progressed. My first set was from craigslist, purchased for about $300 for a cheap Lamar 148 board, Sims boots, and Ride EX bindings. I purchased without any product knowledge and turns out it was too short and I ended up selling everything not long after and spent much more on intermediate gear. YMMV.

	hmm yeah, thanks for the advice guys! i have a board... but the naive bored me decided to sand and paint the board... i've seen few pp do it online and figured that seems fun! until i remembered, when i start riding on it, the paint will start coming off leaving a trail of bloody red line going down the slopes...
