Just heard the winter classic will be Leafs and Red wings on New Year's Day 2014 at Michigan stadium. With the re-alignment next year, hopefully, the leafs/wings rivalry will be like it once was. I'm gettin pumped just thinking about it! Gotta figure out when tickets go on sale.

That's gonna be a wild game. The number of fans in the stadium will be unbelievable and it should be a pretty good game.

Damn, even with last night's 4-1 win over the Ducks the Avs still have an NHL-worst 31 points this season.  Not a good time to be an Avs fan.

Playoffs are looming, Pitts and Boston looking strong in the East; Chicago, Anaheim and Vancouver looking good in the West.  Detroit is on the brink of missing the playoffs for the first time in 20+ years.

Detroit is still in the playoffs at the 8th seed right now. But, bunch of teams at the 8th to 13th spots that are only a couple points apart. So, any of those teams could catch them before it's all over. I'm rooting for the Stars with their 3-game win streak over 3 playoff teams w/in their division to catch the Red Wings.Clap

I think the red wings can hold that 8th spot. Wouldn't be the playoffs without Detroit in the mix. I'd take the Isles over Boston. They played some solid hockey all season.

Also interested to see who'll win the goal scoring title between Stamkos, ovy or even Tavares.

rather not see the Stars make it...they are the only team that seems to consistently give the Kings trouble.

Avs score 3 in the 3rd to edge out the Canucks.  Nice win but the Avs still suck.

With 6-8 games remaining for each team it's going to be a crazy scramble to see who makes the playoffs.

I'd love nothing more than to see a Leafs/habs first rd matchup. But most likely it'll be against the bruins. Go leafs go!

Another crazy close game between Kings and Ducks last night.  If these two meet in the playoffs it is going to be a hell of a series.  This has become a serious rivalry.

Leafs playing well these last few games. With Montreal and Boston losing their last two, Leafs have a chance at claiming the northeast with 6 games remaining. But I think first round will be against the B's. Should be a good series.

Sharks LA game last night was a battle...pretty sure the Sharks and LA do not want to see each other in round one...would be a brutal match up for both teams for the first round...these last few games are so critical for each team so that if that is their match up they have home ice since both teams are so strong at home.

Interested to see if Winny can reclaim the SE div. But with the Caps playing lights out it looks like they'll have to battle for 8th with the Rangers. Also, maybe if the Jackets can knock off the Redwings would be something as they've won 4 straight. Gonna come down to the wire.

Well well... looks like Columbus was able to overtake the wings last night with a win. Now they just gotta hold them off.

Also a Habs loss bumped them down to 4th and could be a potential first rd matchup.

Yeah seriously.  They are 16-7 in last 23.  I wonder if that is the best mark in hockey over that span...probably not but probably close to it.

Kings need to beat them tonight.  Last thing you want is a four game series with the Sharks where they have home ice. Still hoping they catch Ducks though. Well I just checked the standings and that is not likely...7 points back of them with only 5 games left.

Sharks absolutely demolished the Wild last night.  C-bus making a run, I always loved Bob the Goalie, i tired trading for him a few times, really liked what I saw in Philly and no idea why they shipped him out.

LA kings/Sharks would be interesting, especially how much I hate LA.  i see the Sharks getting the 4th seed

Columbus may have 2 more pts than Detroit and Dallas for the 8th seed right now. But, they've also played 2 more games than both Detroit and Dallas. Dallas has the lead on the tie-breaker (number of wins) at this time. So, if they all end up with the same number of points, Dallas has a leg up on both Columbus and Detroit for the final spot. In my opinion, Columbus has the least chance of making the post-season right now.

^ Yeah I would think that makes good sense.  Probably a better than 50% chance that one of those teams will go 2-0 in their next two which would put Columbus down 2 points with three to go.

^^ I like the Kings chances to stay in the 4th seed.  Sharks come into LA for season finale. That game will probably decide it...will be an awesome game.  Then they will turn around and do it all over for the playoffs...should be fun.

Seems the shortened season has made the playoff race much more interesting as opposed it being a regular length season where teams would prolly be fading out at this point.\

Sharks/Kings matchup would be the most intense series in the first round. Next would be the Leafs/B's.

^ Yeah I totally agree...It almost makes me wish the season was always this short...it is kinda like football where the each game is so critical...makes the regular season a lot more exciting.

Still wondering if Detroit will squeak in. Crucial game for them tonight against the nucks. Their potential playoff streak of 23 years could come to an end.

Bruins win today put them ahead of the Habs in second in the east.... Which means Habs could face the leafs in the playoffs.

Dallas still hanging on to playoffs hope with 3 games left. The last two against Columbus and Detroit, both teams that Dallas is trying to catch for the final spot. Let's win all 3 games in non-shootouts to win on tiebreakers...

I don't see Detroit or Dallas making it.

Wild are playing strong, Bob refuses to let C-bus fall out of it, Sharks are about locked in 5, LA in 4, STL will easily get 4 out of 6 points with their 3 games left.  Detroit has a brutal week as well:

Yeah, it's been a difficult season to be a Wings fan, they are in jeopardy of missing the playoffs for the first time in 22 years.  Might be a good wake-up call for Illitch to recruit some real defencemen (Candian spelling, of course).

Tonight the lousy Avs looked like they have already quit.  Play out the last few games, earn those paychecks.

Regarding the fellow who wants to eat shark fin soup and tako sashimi, San Jose has mounted a nice comeback (they were down 2-1 going into the 3rd period) to take the lead 3-2 with 2 minute left.  Looks like San Jose is shooting Stars from the sky.

very dissapointed that the stars couldn't hold on to the end..now, the red wings are the only one in control of their own fate. win all 3, and detroit is in. dallas has win the next 2 games and hope both columbus and detroit get beat by other teams...Cry

Typical season for Buffalo winding down again. Every season they struggle and make a last minute push for the playoffs only to come up short.

Let's go Detroit.  3-1 over LA holding down #8 in the west. Now just need minnesota to drop a game or 2 so we won't be stuck playing chicago.

Stars and Jets have officially been eliminated, sorry lightning80.

The playoff teams are set in the East, just a matter of finishing the seeding.

Detroit, Minnesota and Columbus are battling for the last 2 spots in the West.  I would not want to be the #8 seed and face Chicago in the first round.

Bobrovsky is playing out of his mind right now! Big win by cbj to eliminate Dallas. I think if cbj squeaks in and plays the hawks, Cbj would make things difficult. Could be an upset with the way they've been playing lately.
