which snowboard to choose-

I know you're looking to buy local... is it more for immediate ownership (no waiting for shipping) or are you looking for the best bang for your buck as well?  I really recommend you reconsider shopping online... I know you'd have shipping costs and delays to deal with but the deals you get online are far worth the extra shipping time and can still be cheaper with shipping costs and customs fees than buying local.

Have you tried many boards in your 3 weeks of riding?  If not, then I wouldn't be super picky with your first board.  It may take you some time to feel out the differences in shapes, flex, tech, etc.  Given that, I highly recommend you focus on getting the proper length (144-148); longer being better for POW and stability for speeds, shorter for better maneuverability, control, and quicker turns.  I +1 the Thrive Prestige recommendation.  The Prestige is similar to the Renegade that I ride.  A medium flex board with hybrid rocker, I think you'd love it.  Shreds all, playful yet still can ride aggressive!  Currently 40% off too.  Or perhaps a softer more playful Sierra V-Spot (on this site) plus Sierra S90 bindings combo.

If you haven't already invested in a great pair of boots, I highly suggest you shell out a bit more money on those!  And this is something you should buy local since you must try them on first (unless you try them on local and find better deals online).  Perfect sizing is very important and you want to stay warm, dry, and comfortable as you ride.  Boots can definitely make the difference between a super awesome day on the hill... or a crap day.

Have you already purchased boots and bindings?  Maybe you'll also want to save some money on a dedicated snowboard jacket?  ... and yes, post more pics of yourself on your profile!   Welcome to the wonderful world of snowboarding!!!

Id also say go for something around 145 according to your height and weight.

a 148 thrive prestige would be a really good choice. it rides like a bigger board due to its effective edge but is really light and handles well. the rocker between the bindings makes it really playful but the camber outside your bindings is really great for locking in carves and going fast. theyre currently 40% off. if you are ever near lake tahoe, ca you should try to demo one.

im gonna say go with the salomon, its an actual female board its camber and is good for all mountain riding everything is else is built for men. and you will find it much harder to maneuver. go with the salomon.

it's a rental (read the post/think) I'm going with an old rossi, rental bindings don't really offer much in the way of adjustment.

noticed on your 2nd picture that the bindings are set too far back, i.e. no toe hanging off board and too much heel. Whatever setup you get, make sure to center your boots laterally with the board so that you have an even amount of heel and toe over the side edges

Nice job posting the photos.  Now, to really be of assistance to you, please post some photos of you wearing minimal clothing so I can get an idea of your height, weight, center of gravity and body shape.  Using that data I can create a list of 4 or 5 boards that will be a true match for you.

Demo boards if you can, not the rentals. Find a brand and a profile you like, Also try different binding angles so you can dial in your settings :)

the model names would be helpful so we know what kind of profiles they have, that could be a huge factor. For example you dont want a reverse camber board if your bombing down blacks, you might find yourself washing out quite a bit.

Can go to the shop and post those 4 snowboards model names if you need them.

dont use teh chin technique for sizing, its very general and is not the best form. Go online and google " snowboarding sizing guide" l'm at work hence can't link you

Hi everyone.

After 3rd Snowboarding week i décider to get my own.
I can easily do all lists, with some difficulties on the black ones.

I mostly do pists and sometimes off pits, but no jumps yet. I'm 165 cm long for 55kg and I'm a girl.

I am interested in 4 boards from different shops. (All off them with lowered price.)

- a Burton. 396$. 151cm. Comes up to my mouth. I saw that long snowboard is perfect for what I do but I'm afraid it will be hard to control with my light Weight. Salesman says that I can learn much with this one. Guess it's a man snowboard. Do you think that might suit me despite my weight and my level?
- a Burton junior, same price, 145cm. Was told by another salesman that this might be to small when trying to control the board on black slopes.
- Nitro spindwell 346$. Recommended to me by another salesman
- Salomon 204$. I actually rented a Salomon snowboard once, probably not better than this one, and was really satisfied with it. I actually have no idea of how the brilliant Burton sensations differ. Could that be good enough to begin with?

I tried a test on the internet that recommended a 145 cm snowboard. I don't know which salesman to trust or which snowboard to choose. Thanks for your help.
