Hey everyone,
I'm looking into getting a new board, so I just went to a Burton demo at a hill and got to try out a few boards. I currently ride a Gnu Carbon Credit with K2 Hurrithane bindings, and its not really working for me. I'm an intermediate all-mountain rider, and I like to get ALOT of speed. I got to try out the Easy Living, and the regular Custom Flying V boards, and I'm between the two of those. I also need new bindings and boots, and I have no idea where to start on those. Any help would be appreciated :D. Thanks, Joe |

For board get the stiffer of the two.
For bindings, is more preference. If you don't have a preference, get a mid flexing bindings. You'll probably need to go est bindings since is a Burton board. For boots, just get something that fits like a glove. general thumb of rule is stiff = aggressive, soft = playfulness. |

I was just on the Process Flying V "hybrid type" got the mixed reverse camber b/n the bindings and camper under the bindings.
This was the softer flexing board of the two.. Like it a lot actually really playful yet held an edge and I managed to stay up when I thought I was gonna fall for sure! Paired it up with Cartel EST BUt if you like speed then I'd go with the stiffer version.. sorry I don't know what it's called but it's also a Process and they have two lines, the Flying V and one that's stiffer. Didn't like it as much.

I got the Custom Flying V with Mission Cant' EST bindings and Moto boots. I can go pretty quick on groomed runs but when you get to the choppy area you'd be slow down cause the board is a bit soft. I've caught a edge once but most of the other times the board helped me stay up. This setup was my all mountain setup as it's really versitile. I dont do crazy jumps/tricks but it's great for exploring, powder, grooms, and messing around.
I don't have any idea about the Easy Living though so I cant compare them for you. I'd say get the stiffer of the two and cheaper of the two. lol..money talks |

If you like speed, I'd suggest that you be looking at the regular Custom or Custom X.. The Custom Flying V would be preferred of the two choices you've offered; but I can't really say that it's going to satisfy your need for speed.
If I was shopping for a big mountain and groomer bomber, I'd be getting a brand's biggest and fastest board, with sizes in the 162+ cm range.

if you want speed then stay away from the flying v because it can't handle speed that great unless its perfectly groomed. if you want a burton board then get yourself a custom x...the thing is bomb proof. if you are looking at other companies then i recommend the Capita BSOD or TFA...both awesome stiffer decks that can just fly but are also very versatile. the Yes Pick Your Line is also a gun and super stable at high speeds. there are plenty other board but these are some of my favorites.
as for bindings, go with the cartels...they are the perfect binding. |

Flying V sucks. If you want a hybrid camber that doesn't feel uncomfortable to ride check out the Capita BSOD. As far as bindings pick up some Union Atlas, Forces, or (new for 2014) Factories. Unless you get a burton board, then go with cartels.

im going to echo what Lux said. If you "like to get ALOT of speed", you'll enjoy a moderately stiff to stiff traditional camber board. The burton custom is tried and true. Nitro Team and Sierra Bluebird are solid candidates as well.
i dont think you'll want to be going faster than 30-40mph with a RC or hybrid camber board

on the process, there is a flying v version and a regular camber version. they are the same flex, but having rocker in a board can make it seem softer since it's already bent that direction.
on bindings, you don't need EST bindings for burton boards. total misconception. you also don't need burton bindings for burton boards period, so I'm not sure why someone suggested you get unions "unless you get a burton board." it sounds to me that camber is going to be your best bet. you can make hybrid rocker boards that are stable, but there is nothing like actual, regular, full camber for going fast, holding an edge, and being all around stable at speeds and with more demanding riding. the cambered process or custom would be good bets, as would any other medium to mid-stiff cambered board. for boots, there is simply no other way to go about it than trying them on in a shop. otherwise, you are left to guess, which is the opposite of what you want to do with boots.

I've gone around 50 mph, AlpineRelay app, on the slopes with the Flying V Custom and it handled beautifully. No issue with this hybrid rocker not being able to handle high speeds.

What kind of conditions? It had to be fresh corduroy or a solid dump...no way it was chop. |

Unless he has legs like a Rolls-Royce suspension that makes choppy snow feels like butter I don't see how it'll work. Either I get shot into the air or catch an edge trying to save myself from loosing it. |

not everyone is of the same skill level. just because one person can't "handle" it does not mean another person can't.

Why even ask then if everything is on a person by person basis. Yes, everything is by preference and everyone has there own skill level...but, in general, which is what I think everyone who is asking questions on this forum is looking for, Flying V is not the greatest for bombing runs of all kinds of varying conditions. |

I was replying to the other dude who said he doesn't see how it could work, just because he can't do it. I agree it's not the "best" either, but that's a different point.
