my dream do-everything board would be:
-something fairly stiff. if I were to put it into numerical value, 7 or 8 outa 10 -cambered or hybrid with noticeable camber sections (something like c2) -twin/directional twin shape -mellow magnetraction for edgehold without that crazy grip that full aggressive mtx has -around 255-260WW for added surface area and float (i have size 10 boots) -fast sintered base -stance set back about an inch or so -slightly deeper sidecut -preferable length would be around 160-162 since I don't have a ton of money and am not that important in the snowboarding world, If I had to choose a favorite for doing everything, I would pick the T.Rice HP 61 I had in '11, or the custom x 160 i used for that epic BC trip a few years back. |

we are pretty much the same. I would take a mellow sidecut though, and 158-160
after riding the juice wagon a bunch, my true "every day" board would be a mix of that and charlie. either a slight early rise on the juice wagon nose, or a bit of camber in charlie. or maybe a stiffer, flat juice wagon... mmmmmm

For me this means the board has to be fun in pow or what is the point. That eliminates a lot of boards, i.e. everything pure camber that is not tapered.
So then I am left with tapered pow sticks, hybrid, or rockered boards. Cannot go with tapered pow stick as my do everything board. Spend too much time riding switch and enough time in the park that the disadvantages of the shape in these situations eliminate it. So now I am left with hybrid or rockered. Not too long ago I would have picked a hybrid board because of the inability to rail on rocker (although it definitely can be done by talented riders). However I rode and bought the Joystick earlier this year. Crazy how much you can rail on this board. It is pure rocker and has a pretty steep rocker profile so should be great in pow (haven't had a pow day on it yet since I bought it...another dry winter in Tahoe, bought the board in January after big dumps came in December). Fun in park, gives solid resistance when buttering. Love this stick :)

Id probably go with a Lib Tech T.Rice. Fun board and goes everywhere. I like having a few board quiver though

Love my 2006 Arbor Abacus, but moving to lib tech with serrated edge.
Rode my bros skunk ape and WOW what a winner. serrated sidewalls gives the feel that your board will never slip out from under you. plus, it's light and rigid. arbor and lib tech, doin it right  |

For me I would have to agree with several people in here already:
Lib Tech T.Rice is the Number 1 choice for me... I cant think of where I would prefer to have a different board to be honest. Great for freeriding as its a little stiffer than the banana series are, has the literally rock hard base: in case you find a shark there wont likely be a core shot at least, rockered so still playful in powder and slush regardless of the stiffness, magnetraction for icy bits, pop, rigidity when going faster or over bumps... Im not a big park rider so I cant say if it has its limitations there or not, but I also know a bunch of good park riders that have chosen the T.Rice as well. Considering that it comes also as a splitboard now, hands down the all around board of my choice! |

thinking back to it, i remember in 2011 or whenever the jones boards first came out, i picked up a 64 flagship early on for 50% off because the shop was emptying its inventory of all snowboards. that had a fairly mellow sidecut and that was quite a noticeable difference from anything ive been on before, especially when on steeper terrain. quite fun actually, as it just opened up and kinda forced me to point it down the hill. i guess if i had the option, i would keep the same specs as mentioned above but have another option with that mellow sidecut. wish i had the option and credentials to customize some prototypes and just see the endless possibilities.

I like a mellow sidecut because they are in tune with going fast and making big powerful turns, whereas a lot of boards these days are tighter radii because things are largely park oriented, where you aren't always going fast, and making smaller, tighter turns navigating around. with a mellow sidecut, you can do a big drawn out carve and stay locked in, and you can also get it more on edge and do quicker turns. with a tighter sidecut, it always has X amout of curve to it, so a lot of the time you can't actually lock in to a longer drawn out carve, you are always skidding a bit since the radius wants to turn quicker. I hate that feeling and it's about the only thing I would change about the juice wagon. charlie is pretty mellow and so is my slash ATV and I just love the feeling

I ride a lot more in the trees than usual, so I find the deeper sidecut to be relatively helpful for navigating around them and such. not ridiculously deep, just a tad beyond average toward the deep side. but there was never a feeling like hopping on that 164 and just charging. shit was sweet. I will miss that board.
