I guess i missed the falcons releasing turner. i suspect they'll look to the draft for the future and use jackson to keep their hopes alive for the playoffs.

Jackson has 8 consecutive 1000yd seasons there's no denying he's a workhorse. I think he'll be an upgrade from Turner but will get between 800-1000 yards in that offense because it will be so pass heavy.

Elvis on the free agent market because of a supposed fax machine malfunction? Was it a cheeky move by the agent hoping they'd leave him on the roster?

^ I wouldn't think so considering Dumervil just fired his agent.

So looks like Jennings is following in Favre's footsteps by playing for the Vikes after a lengthy Packers career. As a Packers fan I hate to see a Packer go to Chicago; 2nd worst is Minny. However, I do wish to see Jennings do well, but let's face it Cassel and Ponder are miles from Rodgers' calibre.

Yea, but because Ponder isn't that great, Jennings can see a ton of targets.
He won't be spreading the ball like crazy like Rodgers.

Jennings should see the amount of targets Harvin was getting, he'll post some good numbers I'd assume.

Interesting to see that Farve talked to Jennings a number of times about making the jump to the Vikings

or maybe it was the other way around, in which jennings sought out info from favre since he has some insight in how the organization is run. Its a crap shoot to guess how effective he'll be in Minnesota. At least there he knows he'll be the primary receiving target.

I agree, Jennings in Minnesota is a good thing for both him and the team.  I think he can handle the hate coming out of green bay

What about the crown of the helmet rule? I don't mind the rule outside the hashmarks but it's going to make some interesting calls for the refs

Yea. Mr. Glass. He broke his collarbone on the first hit of the preseason and then again at the end of the season. Another poor AJ Smith personnel choice.

any good players that go to a rival team automatically become traitors in the eyes of the fans, regardless of how they got there. that just the nature of the beast... fans should appreciate everything that player did when they were with their team..but that's not how it works, unfortunately...

^^ Article i just read said he was in talks with a few teams already.

Chi town is pretty much dynamiting the place, eh?

/ to be fair, Urlacher is getting old and busted up. no style points in the nfl by keeping him.

I don't think woodhead is a good enough back to be a starter, they should get someone to replace mr fumbles..

The Texans will probably get 2 good years out of him, then he'll sign a one day contract with the Ravens to retire a Raven. I wonder if its more the desire to do something different before they retire or if its really money driving them to finish there career on a new team.

he's pretty upset over the contract negotiations, or lack thereof...he's taking it personal and will want to go to a rival team for revenge...vikings and packers are going to be high on his list...

Urlacher has always kind of been a douche to our fans especially his last few years so Chicagoans will miss him to a point. He was a badass leader on the field but his play has deteriorated and if he goes to either of those teams (gb, min) he will probably make them worse and his legend status in Chicago would also worsen. I think he will follow Lovie if he coaches anywhere. He will see just how good he had it here once he sees what's out there...especially with the fans.

Itll be hard to find a leader in the locker room to do that. Maybe if they got harrison, but dumervil hasnt exactly been the best character to lead a defense.

More than likely they become offended by the team they consider home not treating them the way they feel they should be treated. I'd say 2 years is about right and he should be contending for a title with the Texans during that time

Didn't reed have a neck injury a few years ago? I think it was bad enough, that rumors of retirement were making the rounds.

09 and 10 he had injury interrupted years, although in 2010 he still nabbed 8 picks in 10 games. That potential for a huge difference maker for the Texans will excite their fans

Sounds like urlachers situation where they were unhappy with what the franchise offered to pay them. In all hindsight reed probably made the better move. The ravens d isnt going to be the same missing so many components even if he did stay.

But still think next season for the Ravens will be a re-building stage.

I still think he woukd have prefrered to be on the broncos. They are definitely more set for a superbowl run than the ravens are at this point. But who knows maybe the d steps up again for the ravens.

Ravens lost what 5 or 6 defensive startes? And then handcuffed themselves by giving the obligatory max contract to Flacco? The team will struggle to make the playoffs next year. Flacco will be asked to make a paycut. Tsizzle will eventually decline and be cut in a few years like the Harrison by the Steelers

People that don't follow the Ravens and continue to make these comments don't realize that they have lost players like this in the past. The leadership of Lewis and Reed is the biggest hit... but skill-wise, they'll be just fine. And when these free agent losses happen, so many 'fans' throw their arms up, write the upcoming season off, and say how stupid it is... but they do just fine the next year with their new acquisitions, and those players who left end up having half the season they did while with Baltimore.
And FWIW, Flacco's contract hurts their salary cap very little for the first 3 years... that's not the cause of them loosing these guys.
